My point was not that we should switch to ATLAS, but rather that it might
be possible to have a different ticket for making ATLAS work optionally on
Mac this way, if Sage builds and tests fine with this new ATLAS in the
case where Mac does not actually build it. I don't know if that's true,
though, since jdemeyer's report could perhaps have been with that env var
set.
