Certainly Sanjeev We will meet after the elections & before the Monsoon!!!!!
We have to clean all the Nallahs before plastic bags flow in to the Arabian sea. We have to act fast. I will get in touch with you soon after the elections. WIN OR LOOSE..... SALIGAO WILL BE CLEAN!! Eknath , could we meet ( after elections , if you like ) and start discussions on Project :Clean Saligao ? Harsh's email / list can be a good starting point. Clean Saligao - would entail 1. Preventing of dumping (as seen in the nullah photo) - a tough one, considering the expanse of our village and the sly bikers that swing bags full over the roadside in the night. 2. Cleaning areas that are littered 3. Educating people of Saligao - reg segregation, generating less, recycling more ( this is the most tedious, but also most important part) communication has to be multi-lingual. 4. Providing facility for collection of the segregated waste 5. Disposal of the collected waste 6. Make garbage management a self sustaining operation (without needing to bankroll it from time to time). I also propose setting up a separate google group for "Clean Saligao" volunteers , so that we don't overload Saligaonet - Rico - what do you say ? It can be an open group , anybody can join. We have already had one round of talks with Clinton Vaz a few months ago. His involvement would be better after we have take the first few concrete steps.
