Can you send me the hostfile that shows the settings? (send it to ME [EMAIL PROTECTED] and NOT to the list).

I've got 2 items on the Alert tab for this server. Both the SMTP alert and the SOUND alert are configred to fire after 3 times down. The SMTP alert seems to be working correctly. After finding 100%, it waits for the next 2 checks to also be 100%. Therefore, it only fires after 3 minutes of 100% utilization. (That's such a rare occurrance that I haven't verified that it is actually working.) On the other hand, the SOUND alert doesn't appear to be waiting for the 3rd time down. For instance, today I captured the following entries: Friday, June 27, 2003 07:53:40 Perfmon (Processor,% Processor Time,0) down Friday, June 27, 2003 07:53:40 Perfmon (Processor,% Processor Time,0) down Friday, June 27, 2003 07:53:40 Playing a sound Friday, June 27, 2003 08:17:02 Perfmon (Processor,% Processor Time,0) down Friday, June 27, 2003 08:17:03 Perfmon (Processor,% Processor Time,0) down Friday, June 27, 2003 08:17:03 Playing a sound Friday, June 27, 2003 08:40:29 Perfmon (Processor,% Processor Time,0) down Friday, June 27, 2003 08:40:30 Perfmon (Processor,% Processor Time,0) down Friday, June 27, 2003 08:40:30 Playing a sound The way I understand it, at 07:54 the "down" counter should have been reset to zero. Why then did the sound alert fire again at 08:17? (Sorry about the minimal log entries. Didn't want to leave it on maximum overnight - in case it ate up too much disk.) #NAM=192.168.7.19#PRT="HAS"#HID=0#DEP=-1#DPS=5#GRP=G00000000#REM=""#UID=12#A CT=T#VIA="#DE=__LAN__#KA=T#"#LDEFUP=06/26/2003 11:34:14# #TYPE=F#PARA="#COU=Processor,% Processor Time,0#AUTH=T#USR=Administrator#PWD=MS81cm9ja3Mh#SGN=>#NUM=99#"#ADPA=""#TIME =30#SK=T# #ALERTS=2#WHAT0="[EMAIL PROTECTED] is %s#MSG=%p is %s#"#WHEN0=3+10_DOWN_BACKUP#VIA0="#WHAT1="#WHAT=AUDIO#FILE=C:\Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\Alert Manager\Ohno.wav#SPK=F#FILEUP=#"#WHEN1=3+1_DOWN#VIA1="# #HTML=#SLOG="#SYSLOG=T#FAC=0#MSG=%p is %s#"# #MON=555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555#TUE=555555555555555555 555555555555555555555555555555#WED=55555555555555555555555555555555555555555 5555555#THU=555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555#FRI=55555555555 5555555555555555555555555555555555555#SAT=5555555555555555555555555555555555 55555555555555#SUN=555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555#PRI=1#IW D=F# #STATUS=5#NRD=0#TLSC=08:53:20#DLSC=06/27/2003#TLC=09:15:39#DLC=06/27/2003# > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Behalf Of Dirk Bulinckx > Sent: Friday, June 27, 2003 00:30 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: [SA-list] perfmon cpu utilization check > > > Were is the problem it gives 100% usage and alarms you, next time it gives > 2.88 and gives an up for it. > > > dirk.
