For Woodstone it's not that simple to co-operate on this one as we have no Sametime running and totaly no Sametime knowledge and no Sametime access either.

Yup - we're Sametime. (I suspect that there may be quite a few out there - although AIM, MSN and the rest will be "big" in the personal IM market, Sametime is one of not many designed for the corporate market (obviously Notes houses in particular). I'd find a Sametime interface very useful (we can't use any of the others).

The company that sells the SDK will do the work too... and they're an IBM partner, so there shouldn't be any compatibility issues... I just wanted to make sure I wasn't duplicating an effort you might have going.

Are there any other folks using Sametime out there?  Maybe we could get them to give us a "group(ware)" rate?

OK, I'll pursue the other, far more costly ways.  There's a company that sells an SDK with a Java COM object that'll do this, but the SDK license is $795!!

I understand why you're doing things the way you are though...

Thanks

The big things with this is that we can't add everything within the product.

We have several IM integrations, being the "large" ones. You can always use
a commandline sender and use that via the COMMAND TO EXECUTE (or even via
the OTHER MAIL option)

Interesting, I'll have to look at that.

I found some ST bots out there and one thing that would allow a command
line interface directly into ST, but I thought that something built into SA
might be a better way to go..

Hmmm....

Thanks!

We're a Sametime shop as well. If SA could work with Sametime that would be
great, but I went out and bought a connector that allows me to send
Sametime IM from a standard Notes database.

What I do is tell SA to send me the alerts via SMTP to a mailin database in
Lotus Notes, then I use this connector to send me the IM. I have it set
that if I am logged off of Sametime, or if I'm in do not disturb in
Sametime, it will send me an e-mail instead.

If I was a Java programmer, I probably could have written the code myself,
but I'm not so I opted to buy the connector. Wasn't too expensive:
http://www.botstation.com/products/stagent/about.php

Eventually (if I can ever make the time), I want this mailin database to be
setup so anyone in IT can go to it, and check off which hosts they care to
be notified about, and when SA registers a status change this database will
either send and IM or an e-mail whichever is appropriate.

I need to be able to send IM's to Sametime clients. That's our corporate
IM standard, even though I can use AIM, ICQ, etc, I really have to use ST
to keep the security and network folks happy.

Has there been any thought to adding that to the notifications?

Thanks,
Greg
