I have tested AUTH LOGIN method through telnet and it still works so I don't think it's that.
I don't see why SP2 would change such a major thing in Exchange either (without making it very clear). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Dirk Bulinckx Sent: Friday, January 06, 2006 5:17 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [SA-list] Major problem, SA stop alerting! Servers Alive's ESMTP authentication uses BASE64 encryption (as defined as one of the ESMTP mechanisms in the SMTP RFC), also known as AUTH LOGIN. The authentication can use other mechanisms but Servers Alive does not support those. Probably by upgrading your Exchange to 2003SP2, the AUTH LOGIN method was removed or disabled. What authentication protocols is your exchange 2003SP2 server using? Hello, I'm running v5 and while we had not changed a thing in SA we did upgrade our Front end and Back end Exchange servers to SP2 along with all 2003 servers to SP1, that's all I can think of that may have broken SA on us. SA resides on a server that is running 2003 Server x64 edition, otherwise it's functioning fine but when I go to test Primary SMTP mail I receive the following error "something went wrong while sending encrypted password error 535 5.7.3 Authentication Unsuccesful" That's if I select ESMTP as the authentication method and use domain adminstrator login credentials in the advanced screen. Reason for using authentication is that we need to alert our t-mobile phones/PDAs and otherwise our Exchange server treats it as relaying and does not allow these to get out. This has worked for the past 2 months or so without issues. If I take out our t-mobile e-mail addresses and only alert to local/domain email accounts it works fine, problem is clearly with the authentication when trying to send out to our iPAQ PDA's ANy help would be greatly appreciated, I have exchange activesync to get my corporate mail on the PDA, but it was so much more convenient to use SMS and directly email to the phone as it makes a nice pop-up message when it's received and alerts you to a problem.
