If the answer is yes, then no, try installing just the PowerChute Bussiness Edition Agent on the one that currently cant' connect, then adding that server to the other one. I would also be sure and use GetIf to inspect (and learn) what's going on with the servers. As a last note I don't believe the SNMP checks will be available on the older (serial) connection directly. This isn't a "real" data connection, APC just uses some of the control lines to signal "on/off Battery" and "powered on/off". Actually, I'm surprised it's available on the USB one. This is an "undocumented feature" of the PowerChute software, and I had limitied success getting it to work in my shop. That is why we switched over to the Network Management cards. Much cleaner and you can access the UPS directly from Internet Explorer. Also, pretty cheap (Insight lists the AP9617 @ $240). Also, also, since a server problem can deny you access to the UPS using PowerChute, moving to the card will give you a much more reliable picture of what's actually going on in the UPS by accesssing it directly. As a side note, 2 advantages of the cards are the ability to use a simple reed switch (door alarm) to signal when the server rack door was opened and a temperature/humidity guage to tell when the TELCO closet was over heating.
