I think the only vague link here is with customer service...
I pride myself on my customer service, but then to survive in the world
of retro computers, that is essential - after all, the market is fairly
limited (and I tend to know when someone contacts me if they have
purchased from me before - my mailing list is not THAT big!).
However, in the world of broadband / mobile phones, I guess that any of
the providers don't care that someone gets upset that they cannot
provide good service - after all one customer who walks away out of
several million customers is hardly going to have any effect!
The only way we will ever change the broadband industry is if people
start insisting on having a minimum speed included in the contract, and
make that a critical term of the contract, so that there is an easy cop
out if the company fail to deliver. At the moment, when they advertise
up to 8 Meg, or up to 25 Meg, and we get 2Meg if you are really lucky,
then there is no come back!
Somehow I doubt the broadband providers would EVER agree to set a
minimum speed!
OK - that is the end of things really - Roger, if you have a complaint
with Vodafone or whoever, people interested in the SAM are hardly going
to have any influence. It is all down to buyer beware, read contracts
and the small print, and if you think you have got a really rotten deal
then either don't sign up to it, or take it to trading standards.

MORE TO SAY ON KEYBOARD MEMBRANES (which is, after all, the topic of the
