The sage tvashhTaa's first son vishvaruupa was
murdered by indra as the son was performing "tapas"
(ascetic worship).
So he caused his next son vR^itra to be born to slay
indra in revenge. He asked his sacrifice officiants to
say :
"indrashatrur vardhasva" (Note: no svAhA)
They failed to stress only the final the final
syllable of "indrashatru", which would mean
Grow! (You) indra-killer.
But they stressed the first syllable also, which would
mean:
Grow! (You), whose killer is indra.

indra-satruh can have two meanings.
1. a person who is the killer of Indra.
2. a person who is to be killed by Indra.
The accent on the frist word (swaritha) at the time of chanting indicated the
second meaning.
