I've seen both presentations from Kaj Arn and Jrg Hoffmeister and was
pleased with them. Especially Kaj explained the situation in a more
realistic way than some other postings directly after the
missinterpreted press release here.

He explained the next steps of the development of both databases and
that SAP DB will stay with some addaptions (mostly interfaces) to MySQL
and MySQL will get more and more funtionality from SAP DB.

He made also clear, that MySQL never bought SAP DB and that SAP DB will
stay until the new MySQL is such developed that it may be ERP-ready.
On a question of the audience about the new licensing model and the
problem of PHP here he made also clear that there will be a solution
which will be usefull for everyone.

Hopefully you will be able to find the presentation at
http://www.linuxtag.org/2003/de/conferences/material.html after some
time. The presentation seemed not ready when the Linuxtag-DVD was
created and should appear there hopefully.

Jrg's presentation showed some representative cases of SAP DB usage at
customer side. One complex installation of different SAP products on SAP
DB and one migration to SAP DB (with some unsuccessfull steps inbetween
with other databases) for a own developed application.

The final discussion on Kaj's presentation was planned a little bit
awkward during the second MySQL presentation (4.1) and there were also
some discussions with Jrg also. Therefore I missed it and can't say
what was discussed there. Maybe somebody else joined it and can tell a
little bit more...

Ciao Ralf
