I'm not sure if this was abandoned or not, but I found this searching
google.  I'd be very interested in such a project and could probably
help with the effort.  I just created a project on GAE using AEP so I
have a little bit of experience on that front.

I think having satchmo on Google App Engine would be a fantastic step.
