dear list, i have an update on that that might be interesting for more
people.
as I mentioned - the disconnects happened on hardware players we sell to
our customers. (www.barix.com) what i have as of now found out is that the
disconnect only occurs with *old* hardware (older than 2009) with a
hardwaredecoder that only can handle MP3 streams. after 2009 the
manufacturer has integrated new decoder chips that can also handle AAC+
streams. with the "new" hardware we don't have disconnects. BUT - and this
puzzles me a bit - ALL other encoding platforms we use (SAM broadcaster,
Winamp/Edcast, other DJ Software on the Mac) work just fine with the old
hardware.
so my next question now is: what could it be that keeps this hardware from
connecting to liquidsoap-encoded streams? is there any 'compatibility' mode
available? or should i try to encode with an (external) LAME encoder?
our platform: liquidsoap v1.0.0 win32 (native) on icecast 2.3.1
