4) Fainting in the bathtub - Many grey owners have witnessed this. Luckily
none of my dogs do this but I have heard of it happening to others. There are
a number of different theories about why this happens, from the water being to
warm to the dogs relaxing so much that they collapse. The new owner needs to
be made aware to keep the dogs head out of the water and they will recover.

The American Greyhound Council has already done one - check their website, it's
very comprehensive. In my experience, the problem lies more with the smaller
adoption groups, who are unaware of the vast resources available to the adopter
of a retired racer, and thus fail to pass this information to the new owner.
And, frankly, if the owner isn't willing to spend a bit of time reading and
learning - well, they certainly won't get a dog from me or any of the groups
I'm familiar with!

Re fainting - greyhounds (and other sighthounds) have a significantly more
extensive capillary network and an enlarged heart developed to do the work for
which they have been bred. Overly warm water can cause these to expand
rapidly, causing dizziness (think person in a hot tub).
