I don't know what is planned for the meeting, but it sounds to me that some members of the public just want to show that some of the things that have been discussed that would require a high degree of community involvement are within the realm of possibility and that people within the community are willing to come together to make it happen. I think it is relevant to the decisions we have to make and something we should know about. As far as the administration not being involved . . . I don't think it is much different than hearing a presentation at a board meeting about things like a Montessori at the high school or a partnership with W.S.U. before the details have been discussed with the administration. We generally hear these things with the understanding that there are no committments and that if we want to move forward, the group needs to work with the administration. -Steve p.s. Just on a side note, despite my enthusiasm for online communication, I don't know that I am comfortable using it for the board to discuss substantive issues before we have a well researched and clear board policy on it. Even though we have much to discuss and this is a public forum, I think we might be best off sticking to pre-publicized meetings until those details and issues are worked out. If we need further discussion time, perhaps we should think about forming board committees that could research and report on specific issues. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laber, Larry" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Sharon Erickson Ropes'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, February 04, 2002 7:49 AM Subject: RE: [School Board] Positive Problem-solvers > > [This message was sent to the School Board] > > Sharon, > As I think about this I get more worried about the direction you are going with this. People certainly have the right to address the board at the community comments section of the agenda. I hope you are not implying that they will play an active part in the meeting itself. I have not been able to find any involvement with any staff in this process. I do wonder what is going through their minds right now. It appears to be done entirely outside of the administration and staff. I think the message you are giving is anything but productive. > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Sharon Erickson Ropes [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > > Sent: Saturday, February 02, 2002 5:01 PM > > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Subject: [School Board] Positive Problem-solvers > > > > Hi guys, > > FYI: Some positive problem-solvers will be coming to the next board meeting to address the SB during Parent/Community Comment.
