Yes, in previous versions the changes to a PGN file were stored in RAM and it 
was necessary to remember to export it, otherwise they were lost. Some users 
have complained, I would say with good reason.

It is still possible to achieve the same behavior, but in a clearer and more 
explicit way. When you import a PGN into the ClipBase the changes are only 
saved in memory and you need to remember to export it, as before. On the other 
hand, when a PGN is imported into a SCID database, a game is immediately saved 
to disk, and even if there is a crash, the analysis is not lost.

I haven't given up on the ability to overwrite games in a PGN. There are 
several tricks you can try to get acceptable performance.
In the meantime, I am quite advanced with the necessary changes to read PGNs 
that contain chess960 games.
We'll see.
