I think INRIA has played an important role in the "rebirth" of the scikit (without INRIA's interest and financial support, there would be no scikit today). When I present the scikit, I usually say that INRIA played an important part in making the scikit a popular, stable, state of the art python package, but that it is now a community driven project with many world wide contributors from academics and industry.

I basically say the same thing ;)

Really I don't want to downplay the role of INRIA.
And I am all for acknowledging it.

I just didn't like the way it was presented on the slide.
Saying "INRIA has played an important role in the development (or rebirth or shaping or bringing it to where it is)" is totally fine with me.

As far as I know, there is no full time person on the project at INRIA (I know there is Jaques but I am pretty sure he is not working full-time on sklearn).
Correct me if I'm wrong.
