Don't know if any of the optimizations have made it to a GTK+
release or onto the Windows port.
As far as I know the optimizations are integrated and tested in the
current pango development tree. So the next official pango release
include them.

Thanks - I grabbed the updated libs, and things are indeed better...
but I still need my caching patch for "GTK on Windows" to have
non-sluggish performance. :(
