it seems it is possible to interact with the forum through email only if

workflow would not have to adapt too much. This message was posted through

Disclaimer: I'm an active poster on discuss.python.org and only a lurker on scipy-dev et al.

I noticed some time ago that discuss.scientific-python.org does not offer Discourse's "mailing list mode", where _every forum message comes to me via email. Discourse's mailing list mode is very effective and I use it for 95% of my interactions, and 99% of my reading at discuss.python.org.

I _really_ wish this were available on discuss.scientific-python.org.

It provides very nearly a perfect mailing list experience for those of us who prefer to keep using our well beloved mail readers and posts appear perfectly normally in the web forum.

Some of us hate web forums with a passion (largely because one has to visit them, and because a web form does not use our message-composition tool of choice (for me, that's vim inside mutt)).

I expect all it needs is enables, and/or a Discourse version update at discuss.scientific-python.org (I have no idea what version they're running).
