What pisses me off is why would they block port 25 to my network? There are 2 reason for it that I can see:
1. Stop server traffic 2. Stop viruses Well I am going to generate the same amount of traffic whether I have my own mail server or I use my ISP email server. Viruses will only stop if the morons out there in the world figure it out and start running/updating their virus software. Whether running windows or some other os, it still has to be done. CableOne is not the 1st ISP to block port 25. Sorry I had to speak my mind. If there are any cableone sys admins on this list, speak your minds and tell corporate assholes to get a clue -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, September 08, 2003 6:03 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [sclug-general] cableone now blocking port 25 Yeah I got that email too. I think some people had some open relay mail servers running on cableone. Even though you aren't even supposed to run a server (on home accounts) according to the TOS. They have never botherd me before though (other than the mail issue now) . ;) Adam -----Original Message----- From: "Ted Kat." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Mon, 8 Sep 2003 14:46:03 -0700 (PDT) To: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [sclug-general] cableone now blocking port 25 they will start blocking port 25 in the next couple of weeks. --- KillRoy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > my email server is humming along just fine. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mike Schieuer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, September 08, 2003 2:07 PM > Subject: Re: [sclug-general] cableone now blocking port 25 > > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > I seem to be getting to my mail server at home without any problems. > > > Mike > > > On Mon September 8 2003 1:41 pm, 02fun-u2 wrote: > > one of my friends called and said he is having problems with cable > one in > > Sioux city blocking port 25, that they just started doing this and > it was > > sent out in an e-mail announcement any one else having problems? > anything? > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com > > The most personalized portal on the Web! > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) > > iD8DBQE/XNOBmUFtrUUciv4RAhroAJ9O4wYU+vzCTh6rLrnh/BX8KNZ/ZgCeJyqa > te6wsdnj0phJ7CiBK+nUUiI= > =4ko4 > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- > ===== Ted Katseres ------------------------------------------------ ------ C , C++, Java or Cobol ------- ------ Linux doesn't care ------------- ------------------------------------------------ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
