Broadband? Care to expand any more , whats the technology behind it , from
what i can gather conventional broadband doesn't stretch past Inverness?

I've toyed with the idea of sharing my SatModem connection with the locals
if/when i can ever get hold of it. The general population here can't afford
internet access here and even when they can , the best they can achieve with
a normal modem is 31k. There is ISDN here but currently the only user (
considering BT's pricing of it ) is the post office in the village. The local
schools have computers but little/no net access from what i can gather.

Fortunately i've got the funding of a large IT company for my net needs.
Afterall what use is a SatModem if i only ever need terminal access anyway.

I've looked into the idea of sharing the connection , but not in much detail.
>From what i can gather all i'd need is a good location ( i'm sited atop a
hill looking down over the entire village 4 miles away ) and a big antenna.

If the antenna here is big enough then the locals would be able to access it
with just a conventional wireless lan card ( if i read the technical stuff
correctly - all new to me though ). I'd need a license though.
