Blonde Readhed better than Promise Ring or Jimmy Eat World - please.  Never.  Whenever I hear Blonde Redhead I can't help but think pretentious, sorry.  How can you begin to tell me that Blonde Redhead isn't just a rehash of what was done years before by better bands.  You did mention Rodan though.  Talk about pure emotion.  I think you left some out though.  How about The Shipping News, Metroshifter, The Rachels, The Casket Lottery, Tortise, or possibley Karate.  Just my take on the whole thing.

SUBJECT: [sdre-l]:[OTS] Hi

hey there.  sorry to be OTS, but i was just wondering why the hell everyone
always talks about jimmy eat world, the promise ring, new samiam and all
those others.  it's all just a bunch of college radio top sellers.  a million
bands out there who don't share SDRE's loud-soft, distorted/clean dynamic are
just as amazing in their own perky ways.  to say that you have to have that
dynamic in order to be good/emotional is exactly why people suck in top-40
radio.  the difference between SDRE and all those other bands mentioned, is
that SDRE was passionate and not formulaic.  take rodan, crownhateruin, skull
control, fugazi, bjork, unwound, blonde redhead, modest mouse, sweep the leg
johnny, faraquet, shudder to think....  like ian mackaye says, there are a
million good bands out there, but there are so few doing things good and
original.  sdre definitely qualified.
