I'm sorry Rombinorad, if that is your real name.....:), but I will have to
disagree. I can't sit back and read your message feeding all this trash to the
list-readers. YOUR message is insane. SDRE has so many differences from any
mainstream band, or sound. Their talent at playing their instruments is amazing,
and so are Dan and Jeremy's lyrical talents. Do the lines "I long to heal your
wounds, but I bleed myself" and "Hit me baby one more time" seem equal in talent
to you? Dan and Jeremy definitely have something most other lyricists don't.
And my guess is that you've never seen SDRE play live. Here is my point and I
want you to listen closely, please. The two times that I have watched them
perform, I literally found myself awestruck, staring at Jeremy and the way he
handles, plays, and just makes amazing rhythms and chords and sounds with his
guitar. It would really bring tears to my eyes. And the thought still does.
Anyone else who has seen them live has probably had the same experience. I mean,
there is so much feeling there. You can feel Jeremy's pain, and you want to
help. You can see Dan is actually have a good time. That is what sets them apart
from any other band in the world, feeling.
And on a final note, I think people listen to mainstream bands and groups because
(with most of them, anyway) it takes nothing on their part. They can sit there
and easily absorb it without any thought, and it shouldn't be that way. It takes
thought and understanding to like a band such as SDRE. It is the same deal with
paintings and art. Most people would want to look at something like a simple
landscape, painted with perfection. They can look at this painting and say "Wow,
this is really good, it's a painting of a house and a barn and a field, there's a
horse, and look at those clouds." And that's OK, i guess, that painter has
talent to paint something lifelike, but a painting by Salvador Dali or Marc
Chagall takes thought, and people just don't like that. Dali and Chagall have
more talent than other painters, because they can't paint realistically and they
can also use the mind as a tool in their art. The human mind is the greatest
thing on earth, and if any kind of artist takes advantage of this tool, and uses
it in their art, or gets the observer to use theirs, then that piece is going to
be a whole lot better.
