After talking with lots of different people, programmers and non-
programmers, I came up with a few topics I thought might be

As I read Warrens response regarding other languages, I began to
think back to my transition period from Perl [enter another
language here] to Ruby. Seeing as we're all a part of this group,
it's probably not a stretch to say we all see something unique and
redeeming about Ruby. With that in mind, a good topic might be:
"How I finally took the leap from Perl [enter language here] to
Ruby; and how you can too."
Another idea might be to look forward and think about where Ruby
and Rails might fit into the spectrum of Web [3,4,5].0 not just Web
2.0. We should all remember that MVC was invented so that the M or
V or C could easily be swapped out and replaced with possibly an
entirely different technology; for example using RubyCocoa or GTK
libraries instead of ActionView. An interesting talk could be along
the lines of: "Using Rails in different contexts."
