Hey Guys,

After talking with lots of different people, programmers and non- programmers, I came up with a few topics I thought might be interesting for sdruby. As a sort of stream of consciousness, I'm going to just throw some ideas out there and see where they go. As they develop in my mind, i'll return to the list and write my thoughts down.

As I read Warrens response regarding other languages, I began to think back to my transition period from Perl [enter another language here] to Ruby. Seeing as we're all a part of this group, it's probably not a stretch to say we all see something unique and redeeming about Ruby. With that in mind, a good topic might be: "How I finally took the leap from Perl [enter language here] to Ruby; and how you can too."

Another idea might be to look forward and think about where Ruby and Rails might fit into the spectrum of Web [3,4,5].0 not just Web 2.0. We should all remember that MVC was invented so that the M or V or C could easily be swapped out and replaced with possibly an entirely different technology; for example using RubyCocoa or GTK libraries instead of ActionView. An interesting talk could be along the lines of: "Using Rails in different contexts."

We've got a meeting on Thursday. Anyone want to present?

BTW, we'll probably have enough people around to do a "what happened @ RailsConf" discussion. I've also got some cool RailsConf tees I'm planning to give away.
