Both presentations (switching from Perl and TuneShelf) sound cool.

I'm thinking I'll try to give a quick presentation on the SimpleSidebar
plugin I've been playing with recently. It really helped DRY'ed up my
application.

I don't think I can stay the whole time (since my in-laws are in town) so
I'll probably present first.

BarCampSD was awesome!

Yeah, you should do your Tuneshelf demo. I agree though, there's plenty of
stuff out there.

I can do a quick talk on Tuneshelf, a music cataloging app I have been
building. It shouldn't be more than 15 minutes, but if the time is open I
can also go into Nginx, Capistrano and some of the production stuff as well
the API's etc I've used with it.

I just started playing with RubyCocoa, and would love to give a talk, just
not there yet. Maybe next month. There is lots out there to talk
about...Merb, RubyCocoa, Rails 2.0, etc. I don't see a lack of topics to
choose from.

Hey Guys,
After talking with lots of different people, programmers and
non-programmers, I came up with a few topics I thought might be interesting
for sdruby. As a sort of stream of consciousness, I'm going to just throw
some ideas out there and see where they go. As they develop in my mind, i'll
return to the list and write my thoughts down.

As I read Warrens response regarding other languages, I began to think
back to my transition period from Perl [enter another language here] to
Ruby. Seeing as we're all a part of this group, it's probably not a stretch
to say we all see something unique and redeeming about Ruby. With that in
mind, a good topic might be: "How I finally took the leap from Perl [enter
language here] to Ruby; and how you can too."

Another idea might be to look forward and think about where Ruby and Rails
might fit into the spectrum of Web [3,4,5].0 not just Web 2.0. We should
all remember that MVC was invented so that the M or V or C could easily be
swapped out and replaced with possibly an entirely different technology; for
example using RubyCocoa or GTK libraries instead of ActionView. An
interesting talk could be along the lines of: "Using Rails in different
contexts."

We've got a meeting on Thursday. Anyone want to present?

BTW, we'll probably have enough people around to do a "what happened @
RailsConf" discussion. I've also got some cool RailsConf tees I'm planning
to give away.
