Thats not really a Logitech issue. Its quite common for a DHCP server to fail in that way but of course most people run the DHCP on their router so a reboot here would usually fix it. Canadians are indeed North American in my book but you are definitely not American and you have produced some notable musicians that are different to those from a bit further south. Here in UK we have more and more American phrases and expressions creeping into our day to day language. Being of an age where my musical taste is beyond reproach also means I cannot abide some of these expressions. For example in the past when we could visit coffee shops and the like I and my generation would say Can I have a whereas persons younger than us say Can I get a ... which I understand is the norm in North America. SWMBO had bought me a pair of B&WP7s a few Christmass ago and one of the first things I listened to with them was a 320kbps mp3 rip of Sketches of Spain. I heard stuff Id not heard before - a xylophone deep in the left channel. The following day I re-ripped the CD to FLAC and I swear I heard it more clearly. At that point I decided to re-rip all my CDs to FLAC and to redo any Vinyl rips Id already done as mp3 to FLAC instead. Ive done all the CDS but Ive still got 50 odd LPs to redo. Likewise I expect there will be a clamour to get Spotify lossless on board but as far as I am concerned they have missed the boat. [slim] Mesh WiFi network
Ive read quite a bit in the SB hardware areas of this forum about people having issues with various manufacturers Mesh implementations. Just thought Id advise that I replaced a couple of 2.4ghz WAPs yesterday with some new 2.4/5ghz Mesh WAPs - Draytek AP903s. My router - also a Draytek has no built in WiFi as it is rack mounted. My SB devices on WiFi have all just picked up the new WAPs and work perfectly. Thats a Boom, a Radio and a Touch - Ive retired my SB3s but I think they would also work. A couple of O2 Jogglers on WiFi are also working. My iPhone is on the 5ghz SSID and can see and control the SBs on the 2.4ghz network. If you are looking for a Mesh WiFi WAP that works then I can recommend the AP903s. Its also solved a roaming issue where devices didnt properly move to the strongest signal WAP. Re: [slim] New Music on LMS compared to ozher systems like (air)(sub)sonic
ReplayGain is explained here - http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php/ReplayGain In foobar2000 you select all tracks from one album then right click and do Replay Gain and select the appropriate option 33715 After scanning you then get an option to write ReplayGain tags The principle is that the software measures the noise levels of the tracks and suggests an adjustment to normalise the listening level based on a target value - usually 89 db (you can alter this in settings but there are really only two common levels in use 89 or 83). The adjustment levels are at Album and Track level. If you apply tags all you are doing is writing some additional info in the files which clever replay software e.g. LMS can use at playback time. You can also opt to APPLY the calculated ReplayGain to your tracks. This makes a permanent adjustment and is similar to "normalisation". +---+ |Filename: 2021-03-09 09_47_05-Window.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=33715| +---+ VB2.4[/B] STORAGE *QNAP TS419P (NFS) [B]Living Room* Joggler & Pi4/Khadas -> Onkyo TXNR686 -> Celestion F20s *Office* Joggler & Pi3 -> Denon RCD N8 -> Celestion F10s *Dining Room* SB Boom *Kitchen* UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* Pi Zero+DAC ->ToppingTP21 ->AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV) & Bathroom* SB Touch ->Denon AVR ->Mordaunt Short M10s + Kef ceiling speakers *Guest Room* Joggler > Topping Amp -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes Everything controlled by iPeng & Material on iOS d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114107 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If you want cheap then the cheapest method is to re-provision an old router as an AP. You have a Linksys lying around. Assuming the Virgin is router is 192.168.0.1 Take your PC off the Virgin network and connect direct to Linksys router with cable If you haven't changed anything it will probably be on 192.168.1.1 and have DHCP enabled 1) Change the Linksys IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.2 2) Make sure the DHCP range on Linksys also changes to 192.168.0.X reboot PC and make sure you can still connect to Linksys but now 3) Configure the wireless on the Linksys to suit 4) Switch OFF DHCP Connect back to the Virgin network - you should get a 192.168.0.X address Connect your new AP by wire to the Virgin router before moving it to its final destination upstairs You should now be able to see the Linksys router and ping it on 192.168.0.2 If you already have a device using .2 change the above accordingly. Thanks but again its vastly over the top for what I want. The Behringer UCA202 was about £25. Its fine apart from being limited to 16/48. Re: [slim] RasPI with Display compared to iPad
Back to the original topic. In the attached picture Im playing Sunday morning Jazz which Im controlling with Material on my iPhone. The small screen to left of centre speaker is an o2 Joggler. Its really a now playing screen but here I have it also displayed on TV. How? There are 2 players. A Pi with Khadas Tone Board thats doing the playing via my AVR in 2.0 direct mode. IPeng on my iPhone is synced with this player and sending the output via AirPlay to the TV with sound off. Why not just use Airplay? The sound is awful compared to the Pi + Khadas which is awesome. Why not use Phillipes Airplay bridge? I could but the Airplay implementation on the LG TV doesnt show time bar and I rather like that. Thanks both This is quite an interesting web site as it provides free live commentary on ALL the main UK sporting events. Not sure why it won't play via the https:// link that is inside the first redirect/playlist.m3u8 - SSL cert issue perhaps - but now have found how to play via LMS it looks like with a bit of work in advance I can listen to any match. Re: [slim] (Vaguely) Audiophile alternative to Transporter and SB+?
In my Living Room HiFi I have a Pi4 with a Khadas Tone Board. The latter is a highly respected USB DAC capable of 32bit etc far beyond anything you can currently throw at it. The Pi runs piCorePlayer and they are in expensive WAF cases. I consider this player to be about as good as you can get for a Pi + USB DAC arrangement. I put it against a newly acquired DAC32. In my experience all sorts of different reasons. A box set of Elvis Costellos Girls Girls Girls from the 80s ripped perfectly to Mp3 ten or so years ago when I started out with LMS. Re: [slim] Machine to use for LMS and Duet
My advice on this is to try to keep as mainstream as possible. If you do do then youll find that every issue you come across will almost always have surfaced somewhere else and been fixed. 2 years ago mainstream would have been something else but today it is definitely piCorePlayer on a Pi. You wont regret your decision. Re: [slim] Looking for advice on Rasperry Pi piCore Player set up
Perhaps a DHCP server issue I.e. the Pi cant get an IP address. A monitor will tell you but if you have no cable adapter do you have another (old) router that you could fire up without internet and just connect a PC and the Pi? First rule of networking - check the cables are connected! Second rule - check them again!
