Re: deezer, was Re: Apple Music
You are right! Did not find the Deezer app in app store for mac. Having a look at it now. Then, will have a closer look later. There seems to be options for playlists and album as favorites. Is there an option to add artists in a table too? Take care 21. juli 2015 kl. 16:35 skrev Piotr Machacz piterm...@gmail.com: Slight correction, Deezer does in fact have a mac client, look it up on Applevis. It was the thing that prompted me to try it in the first place as well as a promotion they ran in Poland in June. It’s a very simple app, but that’s what makes it very good. 99% of it is all native OS X controls, the only thing that’s a web view is your recommendation feed. The only thing that could be a problem to some on this list is that, even though they’re available in I think over a hundred countries, the US isn’t one of them. Well, sort of, because if you’re in the US you can only sign up for Deezer if you got a Sonos speaker and then you get their lossless flac plan. For everyone else, there’s a free tear that gives you unlimited listening with some ads at 128KBPS, and the mobile app will only let you start either your flow or artist mix, searching for specific tracks is only possible on desktop IE the Mac app. Then you can pay about 5 euros a month for premium that lets you listen at 320 kbps, you get unlimited skipping, offline downloads and you can play your playlists and search in the mobile app. On 21 Jul 2015, at 02:37, Terje Strømberg terjestrmb...@gmail.com wrote: Deezer is the same type of streaming app like Apple Music and Spotify. For example, Boz Scaggs song - Thanks To You from the album - The Essential Boz Scaggs. A beautiful song. Can not play this song in Deezer. Neither Tidal. There are more artists like Metallica. This is a hugh advantage. Probably because of the drm in Apple Music. Apple Music is more difficult to use than the competition. Go figure. Its faster with Deezer to add artists in library for example. Is there a favorite button hidden somewhere in iTunes and IOS music, that adds artists in library after hitting the artist name after serch result for the first time? So many commands before adding artist it looks like. Maybe this will be fixed later. I am sure i saw some options settings somewhere in iTunes Apple Music on mac, but it is gone, can’t find it again. Re: question about update
The only problem I am having is my illustrious printer. I have an open case again because my Cannon 210 printer is listed, by Cannon, as not working with Yosemite. Never mind that it was working earlier but since 10.4. Otherwise, I’m ok. The printer thing was a big surprise, and it is not listed on the list of printer drivers any more on my Mac. Re: Weirdest thing ever! with refreshable braille display!
No, I didn’t mean it was available for the Mac. I just meant that when a braille display with Apple devices, Bard Mobile for IOS devices is the only one that I personally have seen that takes out the control m and control j characters when reading on a braille display. Now, I'm really! perplexed!
Guys, I booted to a USB drive I have made with Super Dooper which had Mavericks 9.5 on it. I know that is a little older, but I wanted to see if my braille display issue I wrote about earlier would occur over there. What the heck do ya know! It does! I even tried on my friend's mac to boot to that same image, and on his system once booted into that Mavericks drive, the problem appears. On his mac though it doesn't occur. The only thing I haven't yet done is to make a super doop image of his partition, boot it on my system and see if the issue goes away. If it does, I'll image his mac over to my internal drive, then just get him to go through and remove all his personal stuff, and then we'll sign into my! ICloud, ITunes, and what not instead. That literally, guys, is the only other thing I can think to do! I've even done a permission repair, verify disk, and repair disk. This is just totally the oddest! thing I've seen! Re: Large Numbers file and VoiceOver
That's pretty big and if you run out of real RAM OSX will try to fake it by swapping pages of memory out to disk. Once that happens your machine will turn to sludge. On OSX 10.9 or later you can go to terminal and type sysctl -a vm | grep vm.mem which will give you the memory pressure. I'm running 8GB RAM with the usual mail, chat, web apps open so when I do that I get 0 pressure. You can also check the minimum target for free pages of memory: sysctl -a vm | grep free_target and how many free pages you have sysctl -a vm | grep free_count My target was 4000 and actual was 5533 so I'm good. Once the actual drops below the target OSX will start asking apps to free up any memory they can and beyond a certain threshold will start swapping to disk. There's some details here: http://newosxbook.com/articles/MemoryPressure.html CB On 7/21/15 12:32 PM, Antonio Guimaraes wrote: Hi all, I am working with a fairly large numbers file containing 6300 columns. I have also pulled the EFI firmware update that just came down on July the 15th, if that makes any difference, although, even before doing so, I still saw this issue. I have disabled all the status cells, and am using contracted braille, therefore causing dot 7 8 braille to be disabled. In my Voiceover Utility, (VO+F8,) I have disabled the showing of the Voiceover Cursor, although even when turned on, I'm still noticing this issue. I've reset Voiceover to all default settings, and even have imported my friend's Voiceover settings from his macbook which did absolutely no good. The issue is that when I go into Text Edit, and create either a rich text, or a plain txt document, either/or, which has carriage returns throughout the file, I'm literally seeing the physical carriage return code on the display. So, for instance, say I open up Text Edit, and type the following: Hello, then after the letter o in hello is typed, I immediately hit return to make a new line. Then on the next line of text, I write: My name is Chris. OK, if you're reading this with a braille display currently, and you are in uncontracted braille, let me type out literally what you'll see. Note to nonbraille display users, the following line of text is going to look very strange: ,hello1 my n is ,*ris4 However, after the low d, (dots 2, 5, and 6,) for the period sign, I see the letter j, (dots 2, 4, and 5,) plus in that same cell, dots 7 and 8. Just to further! wackid things up, as if that isn't odd enough, if I move the literal text edit insertion point to the end of the first line of text with command+up arrow, followed by command+right arrow, that j+dots 7 and 8 now turns into two cells. Both have dots 7 8 under them. Basically, now, instead of just a letter j, I now see m, (dots 1, 3, and 4,) followed by the letter j, (dots 2, 4, and 5.) So in other words, instead of seeing: Hello My name is Chris. I see: cap sign, (dot 6,) helloj+dots 7 and 8my name is cap sign chris. All of that on one line of text. Move to the end of the line with the word hello, and then it goes to: Hellomj+dots 7 and 8my name is Chris. Again, all on one line. No, I am not mistaking the j or mj with dots 7 and 8 as the blinking cursor. That's just showing as a blinking dot 7, which is to the right of the mj, or if at the start of the line, is under the dot 6 capital sign. I've tried turning off contracted braille, and also have tried enabling and disabling dot 7 8 braille. NO good. I've tried English US, and also have tried English Unified in Braille on Voiceover Utility in the language popup button. They both are producing this issue. I've rebooted the mac. NO good. I've unplugged and replugged the USB cord both from the mac side, and from the display side. I've swapped out the USB cable, and that didn't work either. I've thrown the thing across the room and then paid him back ten grand. LOL! Only kidding on that one! I feel like I could! though? I called Apple Accessibility, 1-877-204-3930, Option 2 from IVR, and they were stumped beyond belief! Leaf and syncing services
Hello all, I am using a program called Leaf to read RSS feeds on the Mac. I would like to set it up with sinking between my iPhone and Mac. They use a couple of services, and I am wondering which one you have experiences with on both platforms. Leaf uses the following services: Feedly, FeedBin, Wrangler, NewsBlur. I have NewsRack and Newsy installed on my phone, but I am open to suggestions on RSS readers on the phone which will sync well with one of these services I install on Leaf. Alex, I guess the only work around would be to have appleMusic on the iPhone play all songs from an artist than add that playlist to your library and then on the mac play that playlist? I’m so happy to know that you did a podcast for appleMusic with iTunes on the Mac. I will definitely be listening to that one. My friend using a white Polycarbon macbook mid 2010, 13 inch also on Yosemite 10.10.4 official release is not having this issue. We've looked in Text Edit's preferences, and compared our settings. All are 100% identical. I've reset my settings. NO good.
Re: Weirdest thing ever! with refreshable braille display!
GG, Did you read my message in its entirety? With all due respect, the issue has not the slightest thing to do with the display not being recognized. That's not even remotely! close to the problem I'm having, and the display has already been detached. It was never attached in the first place. If it had been, I wouldn't have been able to use it effectively in the first regard. Please go back and re-read my msg again from beginning to end. I'm not trying to be rude purposely, if that's how I'm coning across, but it just seems strange that you'd write this when detaching it is no different than having a guitarest drive a yellow pokodotted motocycle through a swimming pool... in other words, I don't comprehend the rellavence, especially being it's already done, and has been so from the start. Hi there You need to take the braille display off the PacMate. Look under itand find the release key. This should result in taking the braille display off the PacMate, at least it does on BX PacMate. Then you need a USB cable, and you can plug the USB cable into the braille display and the other end into the Mac. Hopefully, when you do this, VoiceOver will recognize the PacMate display. It did the last time I plugged in a PacMate display. It better because I still have one that I want to use in an emergency. It doesn’t do Bluetooth, by the way, so forget it on an iOS device. Hi, I’m having the same issue. A bunch of services were down the majority of the day, but Apple’s system status page claims they’re back up, which…obviously, they’re not lol. My apologies, I read your original message to mean that a different display did not have the same issues. If it was the same display, the problem is specific to your Mac. OK Chris I am going to take into account that you are super frustrated, so if I get this wrong again, please don't yell at me again. Now, if I understand what your message says, and I did read all that this time, I don't believe that you can change this. I have been trying to change this since 2011. It sounds like you are seeing the control m followed by the control Jay. If you ever figure out how to do this, please let me know because I have been trying to get rid of them also. Whenever I do use my Mac with the braille display, I have just learned to ignore it. The only program that I have found that gets rid of them is in Bard mobile whenever you read a BRF file. I seem to remember that you said you didn't find it in pages, and if that's true, I believe that may be something new. The last time I tried to use pages with the braille display writing just texted not a table, I saw the same control characters. Hello Rena, VO-u opens the Web Rotor. Where did you see this list of commands saying that VO-u opens a list of links? Hello Rena, What level of Mac OS X are you running? VO-u opens the Web Rotor. VO-i opens the Item Chooser. VO-Shift-i reads the web page statistics. Hi there I guess it depends on whether you want the latest update ASAP when it comes out. I keep my Mac updated, even if I pay for it later. That way, if there needs to be changes to anything related to VoiceOver, I can provide information to Apple. I think you just made a typing mistake when you said IOS. deezer, was Re: Apple Music
Slight correction, Deezer does in fact have a mac client, look it up on Applevis.
