Hi Mike,

That is good advice, but, I need to understand how these units work
as once they are transported to their final location I will need to
maintain them as I am going to be the repeater keeper.
It's just that I have never played with repeaters before and I am
learning a lot. THe usual very steep uphill learning curve. :-)

I might take that advice and talk to the local dealer provided he
explains what and how as if he just dose it I get no understanding
and I need to understand the settings.
I got the manuals now and I an going to have a good read.

When setting up the repeaters the power in the software (KPG-66D)
is
either High or Low, anyone know what are the actual levels that
this defaults to when uploaded to the TKR's ?

I have a VHF and UHF (Brand New) TKR-750 850 just waiting to be

[Repeater-Builder] UHF Micor stations - GOTTA GO!

2004-11-01 Thread Jeff DePolo

I have a number of 1/4 kW Micor PURC stations in storage that I need to
get rid of this week. I forget how many there are, probably around 5 or
6. If you're not familiar with a Micor PURC, it's pretty much the same
as a regular Micor except it was made for paging service, and as such,
there are some extra cards in the control shelf, a high-stability
oscillator, etc. There are probably audio delay units, a 202 modem, and
some other stuff in the cabinet as well (no duplexers). I don't know
what band receiver is in them. It could be T-band or 72 MHz; you might
have to drop a UHF receiver into the unified chassis if you want to use
it as a regular repeater.

These were removed from service working. I've had them in storage for 3
or 4 years and haven't really looked at them, nor have I tested them.
They're sold as-is.

I have to get rid of them this week. I don't want much for them - I
just want them to go away. There are other parts laying around as well,
probably a couple of UHF unified chassis from 75 watt stations (PA's
might be missing, I forget). Pickup only. The storage location is a
few miles from downtown Philadelphia, less than 5 minutes from I-76.
Ideally I'd like to set up a pickup time for this Saturday, but could
possibly meet one night during the week.

If you're interested in one, some, or all of them, please email ASAP and
make a resonable offer. Thanks.

Then your collinear must be very good, since the Cushcraft 4-pole is far
from a dummy load. It may be mechanically fragile, but it has about the
same gain as any other comparable dipole array.

Perhaps you had it adjusted for an omni pattern (each dipole rotated 90°
from the one beneath it). This will NOT work on the UHF 4-pole will
result in a very degraded pattern. It ONLY works when the dipoles are all
lined up.

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Help needed (humor?)

2004-11-01 Thread Neil McKie

Reminds me of the time I took a pair of highband Motorola Motran
radios ... wired them back to back for use as a portable repeater,
took them, a couple of antennas, antenna mounts, 12 volt batteries
and the always necessary clip leads to Mexico (Baja California)for
one of the Baja 500 off road races.

  That was 30+? years ago.

The radios are long gone ... but I still have the portable
interface kits I built up to match the interconnecting audio and
PTT keying path - over a pair of wires. It was all solid state,
no relays used and each end of the system could be swapped for the
 other end if something quit.

Might even consider placing those items in the most likely ever
growing Kevin Custer Repeater-Builder Museum of fun projects. ;)

A reminder that Crunchcraft
rates every thing in DBc a made up gain. Not Dbd this is over a EIA 1/2 wave
