[Bug 268036] Re: Solid white screen that fades when using INTEL video driver on X4500MHD
I am seeing this same behavior with a BRAND NEW Dell Studio 15 laptop with Ubuntu preinstalled. Similar chipset (Intel GM965 aka X3100), same xf86-video-intel driver. I tried installing ArchLinux on the laptop and had the same problem when using the "intel" driver in xorg.conf. "vesa" works fine (except at low resolution of course). The behavior is very odd. The screen goes completely white. Then, after a few seconds, dark lines start fading in. The lines are all different colors. It would be pretty if it were a screensaver. [Bug 287963] [NEW] Internet radio do not play after audio files, and viceversa
Public bug reported: I am running ubuntu 8.04.1 and my problem is: I can not play audio files after opening an internet radio, and I can not open any internet radio after playing an audio file. I can play along audio files and youtube files, though, but not youtube and internet radios (the same problems as with audio files). My browser of preference is Mozilla Firefox, and the programs in which I have seen the problem are: Audacious, Amarok, Banshee, Movie player, MPlayer, Muine Music Player, Rhythmbox. My workaround was: listed the pocesses running ("ps -e" command), than killed the processes with the mplayer listed in the CMD column (there were two or three occurences), with the command: "sudo kill []" (of course, I replaced with the real process identifiers listed). I will say that is a problem in one of the programs involving audio playback, as it seems that the processes are not freed up after playing an audio file or stream. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Internet radio do not play after audio files, and viceversa https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 287951] [NEW] 8.10 dvd playback sticks (pauses, stutters) every 10 seconds
Public bug reported: This only happens in KDE4 intrepid ibex. I have tried using a number of different applications, including VLC, Dragon, Mplayer. I installed fluxbox and attempted dvd playback there, and there is no sticking at all using any of the above applications. Thus I believe this is solely a KDE4 problem. [Bug 284541] Re: Update manager does not report the last update correctly
Ah that explains it. Since upgrading to Intrepid a few days ago, the last updated time shown by update manager has been nonsensical. This morning it said I last updated 4 days ago and right now it says the last update was 6 days ago. I have updated and rebooted several times over the last few days to no avail. One repository with issues for me is VirtualBox - the PUEL version with repositories as detailed at http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads They don't have intrepid yet but I have left that in in my sources.list.d so it will automatically be picked up. The ddebs for intrepid-{updates,proposed,security} also give errors. It would be nice if instead those repos existed with zero length lists of packages. [Bug 236500] Re: Using gnome-art on hardy/intrepid 64-bit I can't see preview at the right side of the window..
Following output log may be the reason for this bug. After running gnome-art from terminal and ask for example for: art > Other Themes > Spash Screen I get this type of errors for all the downloaded files: PixbufError with File: /home/cedric/.gnome2/gnome-art/thumbnails/Splash-Urban-Th.png - deleted PixbufError with File: /home/cedric/.gnome2/gnome-art/thumbnails/Splash-FlyAwayGnome-Th.png - deleted I think this behaviour may also lead to download all files again next time you request for the same category as no thumbnail is actually saved. I see these errors in every category I have selected. Then no previews are available (similar to the screenshot uploaded by Fabio). I tested preview button works with splash screens. However this is not the case for Application Themes for example, where I get following error after trying preview button: The image “file:///home/cedric/.gnome2/gnome-art/tmp/GTK2-SmoothGNOME- Shot.png” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. [Bug 111061] Re: Wine use Windows colors instead of Ubuntu colors
> It would be possible to code around each theme engine, at least if we have a > list of them, but that would require more patience than I have. Perhaps the > Right Way to Do It (tm) would be to standardize the color settings for GTK. Yeah. I talked to Havoc Pennington today (http://ometer.com/gtk- colors.html), and he said it's basically impossible to do what I'm trying to do, since every GTK engine has its own painting code, and can use the colors however it wants. Most seem to use the colors in the same way, so the script gives decent results, but not for all cases. If we needed to, we could probably make it work by writing separate mappings for each engine, though I don't really want to do it. :) It could at least be considered a Clearlooks scraper, as is. I posted screenshots of some of the results: http://www.endolith.com/wordpress/2008/08/03/wine-colors/#toc- screenshots > Bundling specially-crafted Windows themes alongside system themes. ... > and actually take advantage of the (mostly) working parts of > Wine's theming engine. So this will be actual themes (msstyle files), and not just colors? That sounds like a great halfway solution until real theming works (although requiring more manual labor). Also it wouldn't handle user- customized colors, so we might merge these two efforts somehow. > Endolith, can you use that script of yours to scrape the gnome settings from > gconf, gtkrc, and perhaps other obvious places and save a .theme file, at > least as a "wag and a poke" themer? All it does is copy the colors from actual GTK elements. It won't copy other aspects of the GTK theme that would be useful in an msstyle file. Note that we should make the fonts the same, too, and I'm not sure how to set those except for the ones included in the winecfg utility Desktop Integration tab. > BTW, seems like it would be pretty simple to create a Wine Color Chooser > similar to Gnome Color Chooser that creates the Wine theme file. [Bug 162212] Re: gtk apps don't behave properly after xrandr dual-screen modifications
I think spoke too soon. Now that I've been running intrepid for a while, I still see the broken behaviour, especially with firefox and thunderbird. In firefox, *some* dropdown menus will appear shifted from their correct location (testing it as I type this, the file/edit/tools/etc menus are correctly placed, as are the dropdowns for the addressbar and searchbar. However, dropdown menus from the 'status' area at the bottom of the window are incorrectly placed -- right-clicking on the noscript icon, for example). thunderbird becomes mostly unusable for me, and must be relaunched after changing the screen configuration. As with firefox, some dropdowns work properly (file/edit/view/etc menus), but clicking on folders or messages has no effect (nor does tying to scroll in either of those two panes). ** Changed in: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- gtk apps don't behave properly after xrandr dual-screen modifications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162212 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
