That is because the https_proxy env variable is not set (which is also a bug in gnome-terminal) and apport makes use of urllib, which implements dumb non standard support for HTTP proxies (basicaly it will issue GET https:// HTTP/1.0 instead of doing a CONNECT followed by a GET) The solution would be to drop the usage of python's urllib. -- apport fails to use environment proxy configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/94130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 83522] synaptic ankward proxy support
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic Hello, I live in a campus with an authenticated proxy and an internal ubuntu repository mirror, basically I would like to use the internal ubuntu repository, and use the proxy for any third party repository, because the proxy forbids the access to the LAN servers through it. using /etc/apt/apt.conf and adding something like this : Acquire { http { Proxy "http://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:port/"; }; ftp { Proxy "http://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:port/"; Proxy::lan.host "DIRECT"; }; }; makes apt-get works perfectly, however I don't get the same result with synaptic.
