[Bug 879172] Re: cups-pdf not creating any output if changing output directory
Unfortunately, I still see this bug in 2.6.1-6. I experience the same problem, although I have not changed the output directory (so it's still at its default ~/PDF) and the proposed lines in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd are set as suggested above. I don't see how the bug could have been fixed if the core of the problem has not been addressed at all. The debug logs above show clearly that the output file is deleted immediately after creation. My debug logs are exactly the same. So what has apparmor to do with that? Apparmor would _prevent_ the creation of the file. But what's the point of _deleting_ the file after creation? Is there any point in using cups-pdf if you would not want to _keep_ the generated file? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879172 Title: cups-pdf not creating any output if changing output directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-pdf/+bug/879172/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 879172] Re: cups-pdf not creating any output if changing output directory
I have now tried to set the output directory to /var/tmp/PDF and set this directory to mode 1777 The result is the same: the file is created, then deleted, and at the end comes the error message that the file mode could not be set. Not a big surprise, since changing the mode of a deleted file is likely to report an error.

[Bug 521533]
(In reply to comment #30) (In reply to comment #29) This is obnoxious. My partner sent me a file with forms filled. I changed them. There's NO WAY to keep having editable forms and send her back the file with the changes! I tried save as and still get the old data there. I had to do it as a print, which means she then manually updates in her program. This situation is horrible. This is not the way to report bugs. Please give developers some information about your system (name and version), version of Okular and version of Poppler libraries (can be determined with pdftops -v command in console or using your favorite package manager). BTW, just works here (even for XFA documents if Foxit reader used). Sorry, I just assumed this was the same as the original bug, i.e. an intentional and flawed design. I didn't think this was behaving differently from intended, I thought the issue was simply that the intention was a bad one. If you intend it to actually work reasonably (which I'd hope), and it is something about my system, well: I'm on KXStudio, which is a derivative of Ubuntu. I'm using standard KDE 4.11.2 and Okular 0.17.2 and pdftops 0.18.4. To clarify: if I open and change the forms myself, they persist on my machine. If I send the form as an e-mail to someone else, they lose my form changes. If I save as on my own machine, the new file reverts to the old form data and loses my changes even on my machine. Note that this is a case where the file I got from someone else started with some form data already, entered in some program other than Okular, and I was changing it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/521533 Title: Okular stores form data in a different directory (possible leak of private data) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdegraphics/+bug/521533/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 521533]
It seems that poppler libraries in your system are too old (Okular itself is up-to-date). You need to install at least poppler-0.20 (or better 0.22) to have reliable forms and annotation editor which can save the data in PDF. Try to find some PPA with newer version (Debian Sid has 0.18.4, Ubuntu 13.04 has 0.20.5 and Ubuntu 13.10 has 0.24.1). Sorry. Please take into account that some other applications (e.g. Inkscape) can be dependent on the old version of poppler, so the safest way is to build and install libraries on your own (it is not hard at all, so they do not break anything). Oh how strange, thank you. I will figure this out! [Bug 1241727] Re: Cannot upgrade 13.04 to 13.10
Sorry for this misinformation. I have found two more drivers from the xedger repo that I haven't downgraded. Removing the repo from sources.list (or from the system settings dialog) is not sufficient. One has to manually downgrade ALL the xserver-xorg- video... drivers that come from xedger not just the ones installed. After doing this, dist-upgrade works fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241727 Title: Cannot upgrade 13.04 to 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1241727/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1241898] Re: do-release-upgrade to 13.10 saucy fails amd64
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1241420 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241420 Scott, I had to manually remove (downgrade) any xserver-xorg-video... drivers that had a version higher than ...raring... I also cleaned out /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ from any repo that might contain video drivers and removed xedger from sources.list file. After that (it took me at least 5 attempts) the system was clean and did a dist-upgrade. Maybe you want to look into /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log and main.log for indication of whether there are some drivers left. [Bug 1036401] Re: [Apple MacBookPro6, 2] Magic mouse looses connection
I can confirm the issue pertaining in the current version on any combination of hardware. It starts with an error from the powerd. The mouse battery reading turns to 0 (indicated by red outlined battery symbol in the top bar) Then the mouse stops and after some frantic gesturing, the powerd reads the battery again and the mouse works. Sometimes this procedure takes about 5 minutes (frantic gesturing I mean). [Bug 1184336] [NEW] Missing library link to i386 libGL.so.1 for skype under x64
Public bug reported: Hello, I had the following issue on a x64 Ubuntu: I just installed skype via apt-get. On running it, I get some error saying that libGL.so.1 is not found. I solved the problem by adding a file /usr/local/bin/skype (see atachment) setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This is quick and dirty but does it for me. I am unsure, why the library is not found by the loader. There seems to be no config file for the library loader. in /etc/ld.so.conf.d. I think (but am not sure) that this should be set up correctly by the libgl1 -mesa-dri package. [Bug 1120660] Re: Kernel Panic when running 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' ?
James, I cannot confitm that this fixes the issue. Manually creating it with mkdir /var/log/upstart and doing telinit u still panicked the kernel. Then I put mkdir /var/log/upstart into /etc/rc.local and it still panicked after a reboot. Is it that the creation happens too late? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1120660 Title: Kernel Panic when running 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' ? [Bug 1120660] Re: Kernel Panic when running 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' ?
I get this too and have narrowed it down to the re-exec of upstart in some packages dpkg postinst scripts. To trigger the panic you can just run sudo telinit u When I removed the Upstart rexec lines from libc6 and libjson0 postinst the dpkg configure went through. ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = upstart (Ubuntu) ** Description changed: - Recently, I am seeing a few kernel panics. + Recently, I am seeing a few kernel panics. [ Assertion failed in + log_serialise ] The latest one happens when asked to run E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. I've also seen them when trying to change compiz settings. They seem to have started a couple of days ago in the middle of an upgrade, I guess during some Xorg and/or nvidia related upgrades. However, it happens now each and every time when running 'sudo dpkg --configure -a'. [Bug 1118687] [NEW] confusing documentation installation-guide
Public bug reported: on page https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/installation-guide/i386/preseed- using.html says 'put preseed.cfg' in root where 'initrd resides'.This is ambigious as, initrd.gz is in two folders /install and /install/netboot and I cannot find file initrd, which is it? Not one fits the description, and it's supposedly as simple as putting preseed.cfg in a folder. [Bug 833952]
(In reply to Markus Fischer from comment #29) (In reply to Ron Wolf from comment #28) I've been using this dialog since , I guess, five or more years (feels to me like I've always used it, don't know). It brought me great awareness but also annoyance. I switched my mentality: don't accept cookies, unless required. By using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-controller/ , I'm able place easy accessible buttons which allow me to a) enable it for session only or persistently and b) easily allows me removing site-specific or all session cookies. I don't operate on Dialogs with this add-on but only on the icons in my toolbar. YMMV. HTH Marcus, Thank you for the pointer to cookie-controller, much better!!! Almost good enough. Don't know why I didn't think to look for an add-on, maybe assumed that cookie mgmt is a core browser function and didn't think add-on. Anyway, thx!!! So then two additional comments: 1) The cookie-controller add-on is SO MUCH BETTER than FF's built-in cookie mgmt that I suggest dropping the idea of fixing FF's built in function and instead incorporate cookie-controller in the mainstream release. If you like, I'll generate a long list of how cookie-controller add-on is better. 2) I don't find the essential and documented same as the previous session cookie controller option. Marcus? Do you see this option? Maybe I'm just missing it??? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/833952 Title: cookie dialogues can pile up out of order, but must still be clicked in order To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/833952/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 833952]
(In reply to D. Hugh Redelmeier from comment #30) I'm getting a particularly frustrating variant of this problem with firefox 17.0 on 64-bit Fedora 17 Gnome. I get a stack of these cookie confirmation dialog boxes and I wish to click allow for Session on each of them. The top of the stack won't take a click! If I drag the FF window, some of the stack of dialog boxes moves, and some doesn't. Then, at least one of the visible boxes can be clicked and dismissed. Observation 1: the biggest surprise is that the box that I can click after this maneuver seems to have the same contents as the former top box that was unresponsive. I wonder if the display was not correctly rendered before the maneuver. Observation 2: if the cookie dialog box were not modal (is that the correct term?) and each of them would take clicks at any time, the order of the stacking would not be so critical. Right now, I feel like I'm in a game of Adventure (twisty little passages, all alike) and I don't want to be. Yes, this is the bug that is being complained about here. Nasty. Suggest you take Marcus' (as I have) and install the https://addons.mozilla.org /en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-controller/ add-on.
