Update Problem Open Office 4.1.15

Hallo Günter,
Nachdem ich im Moment (noch) keine neuen Probleme mit dem Funktionieren von OO 
habe, will ich Dir nur kurz auf Deine Frage antworten, was mit „ Freischaltung“ 
 gemeint ist.
Du hattest den Begriff in Deiner e-mail auch schon verwendet,  von daher hat 
mich Deine Frage etwas überrascht .Also, gemeint ist die Zustimmung beim Öffnen 
von OO, unter Umgehung der Forderung von Apple hinsichtlich der Verifizierung 
der Softwareentwickler. ( Drücken der Taste  „Control“ beim gleichzeitigem 
Öffnen der Datei).

Soweit so gut: 
Auf alle Fälle danke ich Dir für deine Hinweise bei gleichzeitiger 
Unterstützung der Moral, die in den Momenten des Versagens von Software immer 
etwas in Leidenschaft gezogen wird.

Du kannst mehrere Versionen von OpenOffice problemlos im MacOS parallel

Was meinst Du mit "Freischaltung"?

Hast Du mal in den Systemeinstellungen geschaut, ob es dort Einschränkungen für 
OpenOffice gibt? Besonders unter 
Systemeinstellungen / Datenschutz & Sicherheit / Dateien und Ordner

Ich habe gerade eben mal OpenOffice 4.1.15 installiert. Nach der ersten 
Öffnen-Prozedur (mit control-Klick und Abnicken der "Willst Du wirklich 
..."-Frage) läuft die Version in meinem Kurzexperiment fehlerfrei in Calc und

Diese funktioniert, wobei ich auch hier nach mehrmaligen Öffnen des Programm 
ein „Beenden" des Programm feststellen mußte.  Allerdings bin ich in der Lage, 
das Programm jedes Mal über den Umweg der Freischaltung neu zu starten. 
Eventuell muss ich eine noch ältere Version aufspielen.
Ich halte Dich auf dem Laufenden.

Ich sehe, dass Du genau auf den Text aufpasst und so habe ich mal den 
Bildschirmausdruck von der Fehlermeldung beigefügt. Die Meldung lautet: 
„beendet“
Mit der Freischaltung von Apple habe ich kein Problem, zumal das Update auf 
meine iMAC einwandfrei funktioniert. Auch auf dem MAC Book Air ist das Programm 
freigeschaltet, aber wie gesagt, das Programm wird unerwartet beendet. 
Die Vorgänger-Version 4.1.11 hat auf dem MAC-Book bisher  wunderbar 
funktioniert, aber wenn ich umsteigen kann,  so werde ich die  alte Version 
wieder installieren. Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich mit Updates ein Problem 
habe,  von daher hatte ich in der Vergangenheit nie Bedenken gehabt.

Re: PDF to odt problem

There is a means to convert PDF files to Word files. You can then save them as 
ODT, though if there is special formatting in Word, the conversion may not be 
exact.

Foxit has a PDF Editor, as well as a free Reader version. The Editor is often 
available for a free trial period after you download the free Reader. A line 
from their web page describes the process of PDF to Word conversion:

      1.  Open the pdf file with Foxit PDF Editor, go to Convert tab>To MS 
office> Word or File tab>Export>To MS Office>Word>Save As, Save As window will 
pop up.
I do not have the Editor version, so don't know if it will also convert 
directly to ODT.

I know this probably isn't the solution you want, but there really aren't many 
other solutions. A pdf document is essentially a photograph of a text 
document. The actual text in the document is now only a picture of each page.

There is perhaps a way to do this, but it's probably for Linux only. And even 
so, if you can do it, it probably won't be quite what you want (that is, 
pdf-to-odt format). 

It's possible to extract the text from a pdf. The Linux tool is called 
pdftotext, and there are probably applications like it for Windoze and the 
rotten Apple, but again, they only extract text. 

If I were faced with this problem, I would try copying the text from the pdf, 
if your pdf reader will allow it. (Again, I am running Linux, so this usually 
isn't a problem.) Then I would paste the text into a blank odt document, one 
paragraph at a time. Or -- if the document isn't too long -- I would print 
out the pdf, or open it in your pdf reader, then type it in by hand.

Almost every OCR program which produces plain text will require substantial 
reformatting, which the proposed alterations may well require anyway.  OCR, no 
matter how accurately carried out, will have a small error rate: in my 
experience 1% to 2%, which will require detailed proofreadng and correction.

Some careful searching may reveal PDF to ODT conversion programs that preserve 
formatting, but the need for detailed proofreading and correction will still 
exist. On the occasions I OCR long texts, I always reformat.

Druck-Problem

System: Windows 8.1 auf Desktop-Rechner, OO 4.1.14
Drucker: Canon TS3150
Bisher über USB-Anschluss gedruckt, keine Probleme.

Seit kurzem kann ich OpenStreetMap-Karten nicht mehr ausdrucken, es 
kommen nur geringe Teile einer Karte zum Drucker. Ich half mir mit 
Screenshots und die konnte ich ausdrucken.
Und plötzlich verweigerte der Computer den Ausdruck von OO-Texten mit 
der Begründung, der Drucker wäre nicht angeschlossen oder nicht 
eingeschaltet.
Ich versuchte einen anderen USB-Anschluss und damit konnte ich 
Testseiten, Word-Texte und kurze OO-Texte ausdrucken, allerdings nur bei 
Verwendung des Druckersymbols in der Leiste oben. Längere Texte (10 
Seiten A4) gingen nicht.
Ich vermute, dass der USB-Controller in die Jahre gekommen ist. Aber, es 
gibt ja in der Rechner-Praxis immer Umwege als Ausweichmöglichkeit. Also 
aktivierte ich die WLAN-Funktion beim Drucker und beim Rechner und siehe 
da, sie fanden einander.
Leider verlangt nun der endgültige Verbindungsaufbau zum Drucker über 
WLAN eine Code-Eingabe, ähnlich wie beim Anschluss eines Modems (das er 
auch findet und akzeptiert und die Verbindung zusätzlich zur 
Ethernet-Verbindung aufbaut). Der vom Computer generierte Netzschlüssel 
wird allerdings nicht akzeptiert.

Am Drucker fand ich keinen eindeutigen WLAN-Code.

Ich weiß, dass mein Problem nur am Rande mit OO zu tun hat. Aber aus 
meinem Mitlesen hier weiß ich auch, dass freundliche Fachleute immer 
wieder weiter helfen konnten. Daher: Besten Dank im Voraus!

The easiest way is to enter the data it asks for. That data is written 
to your Apace OpenOffice (AOO) profile and is used by many of the letter 
wizards that come with it and can also be used to manually insert the 
data into documents

Ich weiß nicht, ob ich hier an der richtigen Adresse bin.
Aber ich habe ein Problem mit OpenOffice.

Seit ein paar Tagen kann ich die Dokumente, die mit OpenOffice erstellt wurden, 
nicht mehr aufrufen.
Es erscheint die Meldung:  "der angeforderte Vorgang erfordert höhere Rechte"

Mit dieser Meldung kann ich gar nix anfangen.

Weiß jemand von Euch Rat ?
Oder kann mir jemand Hilfe vermitteln ?

Ich wäre sehr dankbar !!!

Das kann tausend Gründe vom Kabelanschluss bis zum Betriebssystem haben.
Wenn Du nicht mehr erzählst, was Du alles probiert oder überprüft hast und 
welche Meldungen Du daraufhin bekommen hast, lässt sich Dir nicht helfen.

Habe da ein Problem

und
auch der Drucker nimmt keine Befehle mehr entgegen.
Das Herunterladen  der neuen  Version gelingt mir nicht,
da die Angaben immer in englisch erscheinen,  ich jedoch  
alles nur in Deutsch übersetzt benötige.

I assume that you have other word-processor files that work OK in OpenOffice? 
If so, it's possible that something has become corrupted in this particular 
file. Are you able to do Edit >  Select All (or just control-A)? If so, you 
could try do that and then Edit > Copy (or control-C) and then paste it into a 
new document, either as a regular paste (control-V) or with Edit > Paste 
Special > Paste Unformatted Text.

Andropen Office, as its name suggests, is for Android only. There is an 
iOS application AO Office 
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ao-office/id1177936371 by the same person 
who ported AndrOpen Office.  The iOS version  is free but apparently has 
"in-app purchases" whatever that involves. Neither of these are official 
Apache products and are not supported by Apache.


The is also Collabora Office, a free offshoot of LibreOffice at 
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/collabora-office/id1440482071.

This mailing list is for users of OpenOffice. Luckily I also read here.

I have now re-published the dictionary. I will have a deeper look later
after we released the new version of OpenOffice.

I was trying to create a separate version for our spellchecker for a 
different spelling convention but it seems the extensions site does not 
like the fact they both use the same file names for the .aff and .dic files.


I then tried to unpublish the new (empty) release I had been working on 
but in the process, because the site was getting confused between the 
two (I don't know why) I also unpublished our existing release.


Could an admin please
1) delete the new (empty) extension (now re-labelled DNU dearbhair-beag)
2 re-publish the Scottish Gaelic Spellchecker (GOC) extension?

I have a problem with file securities

Apache Open Office.
I am retired and use your Spreadsheets mostly.I am having trouble that when I 
try to open an Excel format file in another folder, I am told I do not have 
permission to open it.   I started the file and wrote the data.
I downloaded the latest version.13 of your software, but I still have the 
problem.    Also the current file that is open, I cannot save and I have to 
restore it everytime I start Open office.
I could open all files with no issues until recently, when I unplugged the PC 
for vacation.
Can you help me?

Wieso Heise? (Da besteht im Allgemeinen die Gefahr, dass noch so einiges
mitinstalliert wird, was man eigentlich gar nicht wollte)

"Ist nicht installiert" ist zu unpräzise - warum soll es nicht
installiert sein? Gibt es eine Fehlermeldung?

Problem mit OpenOffice

Gutentag,

ich habe folgendes Problem mit meinem OpenOffice Programm:

Ich habe eine Datei gelöscht, die das Programm aber wiederherstellen 
will. Wenn ich das Programm aufstarte, meldet es „Wiederherstellung 
starten“ der betreffenden Datei oder „Abrechen“. Nach Klick auf 
„Wiederherstellung starten“ findet es die Datei natürlich nicht. Nach 
Klick auf „Abbrechen“ fragt es „Sind Sie sicher, dass Sie die 
Dokumentwiederherstellung von OpenOffice abrechen möchten“. Klicke ich 
dann auf „Ja“, dann kommt die übliche Leerseite und kann ich weiter 
arbeiten. Das ist natürlich nicht sehr angenehm. Schlimmer ist, dass das 
Programm sehr langsam geworden ist. Ich habe das Programm mehrmals 
heruntergeladen und neu installiert, ohne Erfolg. Ich habe – meine ich – 
auch eine .tmp-Datei mit dem Namen der gelöschten Datei gefunden, die 
ich aber gelöscht habe in der Hoffnung, das Problem damit zu lösen. Das 
hat auch nichts gebracht. Was kann ich jetzt noch tun??? Die gelöschte 
Datei (eine Tabellendatei) brauche ich nicht mehr.

Du schreibst zwar nix über das verwendete Betriebssystem, doch ich rate mal, 
dass es Windows ist.
Benenne mal Dein Benutzerverzeichnis mit einem anderen Namen. Das ist 
ungefährlich und lässt sich rückgängig machen. Wie Du es findest, steht hier:

Problem mit Openoffice Dokumentwiederherstellung

Guten Tag,

ich habe seit zwei Tagen ein für mich größeres Problem mit der 
OpenOffice Dokumentwiederherstellung.


Ich habe hatte ein Dokument, das sich offensichtlich nicht ordnungsgemäß 
schließen lies und jedes Mal später die Dokumentwiederherstellung 
öffnete. Obwohl ich dann später immer wieder auf Abbrechen gegangen bin, 
dauerte das ganze teilweise sehr lange.  Ich habe dann einfach eine 
Kopie dieses Dokumentes unter einem geringfügig anderen Namen gemacht 
und geglaubt, dass damit diese Problem gelöst sei.
Zudem habe dann später das ursprüngliche Dokument auch gänzlich 
gelöscht. Dennoch kommt jetzt jedes mal diese Maske mit dem Hinweis auf 
das Dokument (das ja eigentlich nicht mehr am PC ist) wenn ich ein 
irgendein Dokument von OpenOffice öffnen will.
Ich bringe das einfach nicht weg.  Was kann ich tun? Im übrigen ich auch 
versucht OpenOffice gänzlich zu entfernen und dann wieder neu zu 
installieren. Auch das hat nicht geholfen. Es geht einfach nicht weg. 
Eine weiterer Versuch war LibreOffice zu installieren aber auch hier 
kommt die Maske zur Dokumentwiederherstellung.

Welche Lösungen könnt ihr vorschlagen ... Gibt es überhaupt ein Lösung?

It is no longer working when you attach a .odt file to email through Gmail
in Google Chrome.  I nor the person I sent the email to can open up the
attached .odt filewhich was created in Apache OpenOffice.

This just recently happened within the last week when I upgraded from
4.1.12 Open Office to 4.1.13.

Another thing that occurred.  When I was downloading Apache OpenOffice
4.1.13,  it gave me the following error message:
 Google Chrome 1920

Please help.

Das hört sich an, als ob the Dateien dialog.xlc und script.xlc im Ordner
basic überschrieben wurden. Das sind XML Dateien, du kannst sie dir also
mit einem Editor angucken und mit den entsprechenden Dateien aus dem
user-alt-Verzeichnis vergleichen.

Wenn du deutliche Unterschiede siehst, ersetze die Dateien mit den
entsprechenden Dateien aus dem Backup.

Ordner basic überschrieben wurden. Das sind XML Dateien, du kannst sie 
dir also mit einem Editor angucken und mit den entsprechenden Dateien 
aus dem user-alt-Verzeichnis vergleichen.


Wenn du deutliche Unterschiede siehst, ersetze die Dateien mit den 
entsprechenden Dateien aus dem Backup.

This is usually caused by a Microsoft Windows update changing the File 
Associations for OpenOffice files to point instead to MS Office.  All one needs 
to do is reset such file associations to point to OpenOffice as the default 
application for these.  Look up how to do this - it is simple.

This file capture may happen repeatedly with other Windows updates in future.

You say that Microsoft [Office] has taken over all your OpenOffice files. That 
suggests it is the default productivity application suite. If you genuinely 
have "no use whatsoever" for Microsoft office, uninstalling it should free you 
from it and cause your documents to be opened by another app, e.g. OpenOffice 
or LibreOffice, provided that a suitable app is available, but I can’t remember 
if the available or selected app automatically becomes the new default app or 
if you have to set the default.

I say uninstalling MS Office "should free you from it" because I do not know if 
a MS Windows computer will allow you to uninstall MS Office, perhaps Mr Gates 
may insist that you keep MS Office so that he can keep billing you for it 
because you have to use it because it keeps preventing you from using any 
alternative. I had MS Office on my Mac under an Education licence for a few 
years, because it was required for my children’s schoolwork, but I uninstalled 
it when they no longer needed it (and I was glad to be rid of it), but I don’t 
know if you can uninstall it from a Windows computer.

However, you should not have to uninstall MS Office unless you really do want 
to get rid of it, you should be able to open your documents with any available 
alternate application. On the Mac this is done by right-clicking on the 
document’s icon, then scrolling in the selection window to “Open With” and

Suite are opened and not closed properly in OO applications then so too
much versions locked for edition.
Check on paths directly for files named ~*.#* and delete them all from hard
disk.

Herr Greschenz hatte mir die Fehlermeldung privat zugeschickt.

Es handelt sich (wie schon öfter) um den "überwachten Ordnerzugriff":

M.W. ist diese Funktion standardmäßig nicht aktiv, aber ich schließe
nicht aus, dass sie durch irgendein Update seitens Microsoft aktiviert
wurde.

Die Lösung ist die Überwachung auszustellen oder OpenOffice (soffce.bin)
in die Liste der erlaubten Programme aufzunehmen.

Danke für die Informationen.

Leider kommt auf der Mailing-Liste kein Anhang durch, könnten Sie mir
den separat schicken?

OpenOffice ist ja ein "klassisches" Windows-Programm, deshalb macht die
Meldung im Grunde keinen Sinn. Ich vermute hier einen Fehler im
Microsoft Store, ist der bei ihnen aktuell? Ich kann das Problem leider
an (diversen) PCs nicht nachvollziehen.

Wird OpenOffice über die Verknüpfungen im Startmenü gestartet, wenn
diese Meldung kommt?

Wo kommt diese Meldung denn? Wenn es bis heute funktioniert hat, was
wurde verändert?

Wenn die Datei von der offiziellen Seite, z.B.:

https://www.openoffice.org/de/download/

oder aus dem Microsoft Store:

https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/apache-openoffice/XP89J5462CMGJD

ist, dann ist sie digital signiert mit einem Zertifikat der Apache
Software Foundation.

Wenn nicht, dann besser die Finger davon lassen. Dann ist das irgend
etwas "dubioses".

Ich sitze nicht am pc, aber ich vermute, dass du beim zeichnen gleichzeitig
die shift-taste gedrückt hältst?

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren.
Bei meinem Zeichnungsprogramm  bei OPEN OFFICE 4 , Version 4.1.13 kann ich 
keine Rechtecke zeichnen. 
Auch wenn das Format auf Rechteck steht, werden es immer nur Quadrate.
Mache ich einen Anwendungsfehler oder liegt es am Programm ?
