No, this is not normal. It only happens in Geany, when I am editing an existing

Sorry to interrupt but I have exactly the same problem. If I enter something
cpu goes up to 25% (4 threads) and then drops back to 0%. I have removed
active_profiles and turned off wordwrap with no change.

I think you missed that in these cases it was `)` vs `}` . yes some
fonts it is sometimes hard to tell especially it is on different lines
but they are different characters.
