Dear Maria,
Thank you for the advice about posting to the Berner-L about the new
vocabulary that is necessary because of the new rigid spam filters.
As you suggest, I'll be looking for "MANY LAVISH BESTOWALS" over the next
month and a half during the 5th Annual Berner-Garde Fundraiser. We wan
Greg,
I've seen Berners with white markings all the way up past the elbows,
and others with no white on their legs at all. So markings won't really
tell you much one way or another. You'll know a good deal more as Pippy
grows, any idea just how old she might be?
Pippy is a very lucky girl - bles

It is clear that Cabela's is simply sending the same canned responses to
everyone. When I asked specifically if their breeders would take back a
puppy if the new impulse-driven owner changed her mind, there was no
response. I'll assume the answer. Very disturbing.

Nice try, Maria,

Dear Maria,
You are perfectly correct, many people have porn and spam editors on
their email, and the resultant errors from rejections are often quite
intriguing. I have often had to reread emails in order to determine what
the offending word might be. I think your proposal has a great deal of

Hi,
About this "little big pup".
I am not familier with BARF, I am a "kibble-mother", but hope it is not only
meat your pup got. Too much protein make pups grow faster. Said without

Dear Pat,
As you know, for the last two weeks I have been taking care of errors
generated by problematic emails on the Berner-L. During this time I have
realized that Spam software is intent on doing its job as thoroughly as
possible -- making my job very tedious. I believe it is necessary,

I have used Heartguard for years on both a Berner and a non-Berner because
heartworm is a real threat where I live. I had a Newfie mix, same size as
a Berner, who had heartworm when I rescued him. The treatment was very
hard on him and me, as well. My opinion is that a reaction from the

Hi All!
Wanted to ask if anyone has an opinion on the Heartguard medication.
There are mosquitoes out in full force this summer and our vet would
like to put 1 1/2 year old Ginger on Heartguard medication. I had
read awhile back that there are side effects, and none of our other
dogs have ever bee

Hi Robert,
Your puppy is very small for his age and if I do the math right you
purchased him at six and half weeks?? Most breeders sell their puppies
between seven and eight weeks and if puppies are under-developed most
breeders would grow them on a bit and check for reasons for delay. Most

Hi Radya,
I breed Berners and I would never consider loading up my van and taking a
pile of puppies to a store carpark to sell. I start the interview process
well before the puppies are born and even if at certain times of the year
the phone enquiries slow down I do not panic and sell in haste. I m
Hi,
Have to contradict here:-) Immodium should not be given to a five month old
puppy with loose stools. There is a possibility that internal parasites
might be the cause and to slow the gut responses allows these parasites
extra time to multiply, same with coccidia. Take a fresh sample to your vet
I sent them a short e-mail, simply asking for a list
of the sporting breeds sold, and a list of the
required health clearances/certifications for each
breed. That was all I asked. I didn't give them my
opinion that this is an irresponsible way to sell
pups. I just asked for more info.

clearly indicate the genetic status of each dog regarding hips. A breeder

Dear Robert,
It's always so amazing to see the puppies grow so fast. I don't have any
answers for you, but I do have a few questions. Have you had Alex since
he was 6 weeks old? Or did you get the information from the breeder on
how much he weighed two weeks ago? And how much play and exercise tim
