Hey SOCers and non-SOCers,
If you spent any time in the SOC Marathon Sprint, be sure to get
your log in to me. Doesn't matter if you only spent five minutes and
made one contact, all logs are important. Heck, one of our entries will
include just one imaginary contact for a score of j35
I have the KSB2 installed, and the audio, etc sounds great. The RF/ALC
metering is not right. When I select RF, there is no output. When I select
ALC metering, audio carrier, etc work fine. THere is no ALC indication of
any kind, no matter what. Any ideas?

Ron,
Proof positive that lightning can and will do 'strange stuff' one never
knows about its behavior. It is always a good thing to exercize caution
when the sky 'rumbles'.
I just repaired a K2 (no KPA100) for a fellow that was not connected to an
antenna or powered on when lightning hit nearby
I shot an email to Elecraft this past weekend about the status of the
new amplifiers, and here is the reply I received:
Still working hard and looking at Nov or so for release.
Shortly after Dayton, I was told that We expect to be able to take
orders later this summer and plan to ship production
VA3IMO wrote having difficulty with finding C71 and C174.
I had the same problem.
In my kit the 82 pF were labeled as 820 but the manual lists them
as labeled 82.
The same thing occurred with C122, a 56 pF, labeled as 560 but
manual lists as 56
I don't recall the part number but I think

Hello all,

All manuals and paperwork.
The reason to sell is to collect funds for a new project.
I have built the unit

I did not do an inventory - until I got the caps section. Sheesh, there
are so many and it is hard to tell which ones are which.

Like all projects of this magnitude, delays are inevitable. I was thinking
that even the October Pacificon date was a delay as compared to what we were
hearing earlier, but I could be mistaken.
It's a little pointless for people to get worked up about this. A year after
they ship, everyone will
I have a K2 and added the Elecraft transverter interface using split rx/tx.
I am using 28 MHZ as an If and use only TRansverter 1 on the menu. I am using
50/144/222/432 DEM transverters with split lines out using an external
switch. The K2 drives the transverters fine but on RX I can hear
Gee, thanks for the plug, Craig ;-) I should point out that at this time
I only have about 10 units left from the current production run. Visit
my website for more details. The LP-100 would look nice sitting on top
of the new amp ;-)

snip Now the reason I ask is I am headed back to VK9CGG for three weeks.
Hope to work lots of you with a K3 undamaged by checking it in my luggage but
inside a Pelican case.
Any recommendations?

I sure hope so. Here in DL sales tax is going up from 16% to 19% next Jan., and
we have to pay the same amount of tax for imports. It would be really cool if
the first orders arrive before the tax hike.

George,
Since you are hearing 144 MHz signals, I would think you should investigate
either the transverter interface hookup or address the problem with DEM -
the K2 is set to receive 28 MHz signals, and if you hear 144 MHz, it has to
be coming from one of the DEM transverters - does your switch
Dan, WG4S, picked up on a mis-statement in the message below about the color
code. It think it's worth repeating here.
He pointed out that calling the last color or digit a multiplier is
incorrect. Multiplying any value by zero results in zero!
He's perfectly right.

Did you perhaps overlook my order and paypal payment of $322

Yes John,
Not sure exactly but it might be SDR related.
My 'problem' is that i enjoy building and technical experiments more then
operating.
The most wonderful thing about our hobby is that everyone has his own way of
enjoying it!

I know you didn't mean to send that message to the list, Joe, but I
think I should respond to the list just so anyone who is waiting for
delivery will have the latest info.
It took 4-5 months from first orders to delivery for the first run of
LP-100s. For the vast majority of custoemrs, this

Hello Group,
I have been using an MFJ-1279 for digital (just PSK_31 for now) and it seems
to be very well behaved. External sensors confirm a clean signal. Bit
pricy, but well-featured.
My question is:
Have any of you used the MFJ digital software (RadioCom4 or RadioCom5)?
Both are very

If you get it adjusted right, the pitch shouldn't change (or should
change very little), however the color of the noise might shift a
