Hello,
I posted a couple of days ago regarding a strange problem I had with low
power output when testing my KPA100. Well I soon discovered that the low
power was due to low drive from the K2.
Whilst investigating this I removed the SSB to access U10 etc., inserted
the links and the cap. Pre

Mike,
Yes solder the cans, the inductors will not be properly shielded unless the
can is connected to ground - it doesn't take that much solder - and yes
solder both tabs.

Chris,
You may have a problem with CW as well as TUNE. Check voltages at SSB board
Q3 during TUNE or keydown on CW. You should have 7.5 to 8 volts on the
collector and near 2.4 volts on the base - the emitter should be about 0.2
to 0.3 volts lower than the base.

Hi Mike:
Well, I don't know what the statistics are on the batch of crystals that are
being shipped, but I'd give the 10uH a try and see what you get. All you
need is 9.8. I had 9.5 and someone else I know had 9.7. However, I'd bet
that there are numerous K2s out there that came in >= 9.8. So

The jumper on P3 should be in the KAT1 position when the KAT1 is in use.
This is in the errata for page 7 of the KAT1 instructions.

Great that you had success with just the replacement of the voltage

But, Dave, if you had let him eat the parts, you could plug the radio in one
ear and plug an antenna in another ear..

Hi Jeff,
It's a 5-KW coax balun made in about 1988 by DKP, which may or may not
still be in business. See this URL:
