Greetings all,
Has anybody come across the following problem after installing the MapInfo
v5.5 patch (Patch55026.exe)
I am running MI v5.5 under NT4, plotting to a HP650c plotter.
I set page setup to print landscape. When opening a layout window it always
comes up portrait. This has not been
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had used the program to create points along a polyline at a
nominated interval and then somehow labelled each point sequentially. ie I have a road
that covers 300 km and I have created points at 10m intervals. I now need to attribute
each point sequeatially fr

Is the syntax of Street && Street for finding intersections the same in MapX

have the same structure, but the MapX help does not explicitly state the

I know "Thank You" postings probably rate in the "you don't have to,

Is there anybody who knows why my changes of the scale won't take place in
the map when I print it. I changed it from 1:200 till 1:250
but it will not do that in the paper.

Gabor,
As far as I'm aware, MI does not include the functionality to do this,
apart from setting up a layout window and manually shifting the Map window
to the desired location.
I think your looking for a Batch Printing feature. I've developed one
in-house, but it is bundled with other
Hi all,
I have a very large area to map. I wish to map the large area on a series
of A3 or A2 submaps (printer limitation). These maps need to be at the same
scale with repeated title boxes etc. I envisage a small scale title map
that has all the sub plans shown as tiles on it with a key.

In early Jan 2000, I asked if anyone knew how to use the Windows
API functions to get the exact size of text strings before
placing them on a mapper. At first no one had a clue. Then I
whined and groused some more, said it couldn't be done by
mortals, impossible, etc. Well, since nobody believes m
Hello VMers:
I am a VM newbie. Is it possible to use the Square Cell Aggregation
technique with a .GRC, and then save the square cells as regions in a .TAB?
Or, must one start with a point file first?
It seems like this should be fairly straight forward operation in VM.

MapPad has been used for the data collection of street sign information by
a few local councils.
MapInfo maps on a palm pc are used as the base layer for referencing sign
location. All data is uploaded to the GIS on returning to the office.

Dear David,
If you want to use wild-card characters in a string expression you
have to use the word LIKE instead of =.
The wild-card character % (percent) matches zero or more
characters.
The wild-card character _ (underscore) matches a single character.
So your where clause should look like:

Try using left$(PLUGS,1)="G" where the 1 is the number of characters on the
left side of the string. If you needed all the G1xx plugs for example,
you'd enter left$(PLUGS,2)="G1".
Same for the right side (right$(column,#chars)="xxx")

Greetings,
Am making good progress on my project so far, thanks in no small part to

I need to do some statistical analysis, and I wanted to see how much I
should expect to do in MI/MB. I'd like to do everything in an MI/MB

Dear list
I've got a little, but (for you) a solvable problem, I guess.
I have two files that I would like to connect.
I write this query, and the result gives me all the matches
( fileA.colA1 = fileB.colB1
And fileA.colA2 = fileB.colB2 )
But I also wants to know what rows that don't match,
