xarchiver has no icon in the top left corner of the window. The reason
is that the code looks for /usr/share/pixmaps/xarchiver.png, but only
/usr/share/pixmaps/xarchiver.xpm exists.
1. Change the code to point to the .xpm
or
2. Convert the .xpm to .png (no .desktop changes
As per another bug I've reported (sorry, don't have the number), I get a
Nautilus window titled "Windows Network: 192.168.0.2 on 192.168.0.2"
with no contents. There is no indication of what I have done wrong in
the Connect dialog, and 192.168.0.2 is now listed as a mounted server
even though it do
It looks like a copying the file from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=129083&package_id=187875
into /lib/firmware/zd1211 fixes the problem.
Those files seems to be identical to the files in
/lib/firmware/2.6.17-7-generic/zd1211* (that are already installed),
just different
I should also mention that switching to a text terminal just gets a
screen of gray garbage.

With 6.06 I did some kind of workaround. I swapped my 40gig hdc for an
old 20gig seagate and everything worked. I'll try 6.06.1 with the 40gig
next week.
Don't know why this worked. I did check both harddisk for possible
errors, but both disks were OK.
