I can move the mouse pointer, but the local and remote pointers are
offset from each other. As i move my local mouse pointer off the bottom
of the vnc window, the remote pointer is still about 1/6th up the

Pbuilder by default indeed uses sudo to temporarily escalate to the
priviledge level required to chroot into the fake build environment.
Immediately afterwards pbuilder drops its privs down to nobody:nobody.

can't read the EDID information.
Do you still have a working copy of Hardy around? If you don't have it
installed, you may download a LiveCD and try it. Hardy has two drivers that
would work with this card, the older i810
