When you try using xterm - it behaves alike, however it more frequently works
without crash - it prints new pid and after a while it prints bash: gdit:

Sometimes the readings are accurate, sometimes wrong. I tried
hibernate/resume, but the problem didn't reoccur. I tried a fresh boot
recently and noticed a little while ago the incorrect readings while

Can confirm, that this is still an issue on several intrepid amd64
machines.

Most probably, I'm not about to install an old version of Ubuntu just to
see if there has been a magical fix of upgrade-path of the package when
you move to a more recent version of Ubuntu. I'd expect that to be the
maintainers job and resources to test.

I can't speak to what is valid in xorg.conf, but I know I need to fix up
xorg.conf to make the touchpad on my Latitude D600 usable in X. If you

dmesg dmesg.log after an attempt to resume, and then attach it to
this bug report, as it might give an idea what the problem is.
