Does anyone know of a way that I can have the word count continuously
appear in the bottom of the window pane?
I saw it there once and cannot figure out how to replicate it.
Thanks in advance.

I am inclined to believe that you moved the documents from the location
where originally saved to another folder.
If you go to the folder where it currently resides and click on it it
should launch the document. After that you can access it from the drop down
menu for recent docs.
On Aug 19, 2017
When I did it I first launched Open Office and then asked Open Office to
open the Microsoft document and then saved it as an Open Office document.
