[AI] a portable text reader to help the disabled.
Korea based A.D. Information has announced the Voice-Eye a portable text reader designed to help the disabled. The unit comprises of two parts a barcode scanner 'Voice-Eye Symbol' and a player that reads the text stored in the special Voice-Eye Symbol. The player looks like a crude version of the iPod with controls arranged in the familiar click wheel style. It supports English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, by installing TTS (Text to Speech) engine it can support additional languages. It plays music too as no modern day gizmo is complete without MP3 playback. The Voice-Eye is currently being used in courts across Korea for reading out the judgement and other news to handicapped people. The voice produced very much human like, it supports stand alone recording without the need of a PC. Files can be transferred via USB connection. A Lithium Polymer battery powers the Voice-Eye, pricing and availability is not known yet. http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/voice-eye_mate_portable_text_reader Enjoy Rohan To unsubscribe send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] query about sms using yahoo messenger
Hi there, Yes there is a way which i tried long time back, by sending sms messages to my friends. You can go to: www.sms.ac.in and there you can register your cell number and make your profile by putting your user id and email address etc. When you will send sms to anyone's cell then it might not show your cell number and instead of that it might show your user id. With this website you can send 5 free sms daily. Re: [AI] query about sms using yahoo messenger
Taraprakash, You can send international messages from Yahoo Messenger. But these messages can be sent to only those people who are in your Contacts List in Yahoo Messenger and whose mobile numbers are in the contact details. So, the person to whom you want to send a SMS via messenger should have a Yahoo account at least. The account can be on Yahoo.com or on Yahoo.co.in or on any other country specific Yahoo service. For sending SMS messages to people without Yahoo accounts, try the following workaround. 1. Create a second email id on Yahoo 2. Add the new email Id as a contact in the Contacts List in Yahoo Messenger. Give this contact a dummy name like Z or X. 3. When you want to send a SMS to a person not on your Contacts List, open the Contact Details of the dummy contact added in the above step. 4. Save and close the Contact Details. 5. On the dummy contact, press the application key. A list of options will open. One of these options will be "Send Text Message". 6. A box will open up and the cursor will be placed in the edit field where you can type your message. When you have finished typing, tav over to Send and press Enter. The message will be sent. Hai Tara: "Lost Horizon" will be fantastic. Pl send it. Also Asimov's 'Search for Second Foundation', and Arthur C Clark's 'Rendezvous with Rama' or '2010. Hai Tara and others: I haven't tried very many of the book sites. But, none of them seem to have relevant books. For example, I haven't found many Sci-Fi's not even stuffs like H G Wells, Isaac Asimov etc. One novel I have been wanting to read in e-text form is 'Goodbye Mr. Chipps' (By James Hilton). bookshare doesn't allow copyright material to the foreigners. I am not sure if you can be a member. It is always better before asking such questions, what your interests are. What kind of novels do you read. What is the purpose of your reading them. Re: [AI] Site for downloading English novels
try the following links: http://promo.net/pg http://www.bookshare.org. These sites will provide free access to bookks that are not copyrighted. You can subscribe with bookshare with some payment to gain access to the recent copyrighted books, although the subscription process is complicated. Bartleby is also there, but the problem there is that ou need to read the book chapter by chapter or section by section. As far as I know, you cannot download the whole book from Bartleby. Also try this ftp site: ftp://jeffstud:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/public_ftp/incoming/Books/ Enjoy Viraj. - Original Message - From: "Giriraj" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Monday, September 18, 2006 8:45 PM Subject: [AI] Site for downloading English novels > Hi, > Is there any site from where I can download English novels? > Thanks > Giri > > To unsubscribe send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the subject unsubscribe. > > To change your subscription to digest mode or make any other changes, please visit the list home page at > http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/accessindia_accessindia.org.in To unsubscribe send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] Toshiba Readies New HD DVD Players a controversial issue?
Hi Friends, At the outset, I would comment nothing about this thread as I believe every individual have their own views and I respect them. As per me, I am enjoying every technology and blindness related mails. I am writing this mail with a request. If some one notices or feels a mail off topic or inappropriate to list, it will be the best idea to inform the sender privately so that the specific person also feels happy and rectify his mistake in the future and also it will reduce pain of Moderator to some extent. In my opinion, this is also a way for us to help Moderator. Another advantage of this is though Broad band is exist, still there are many users rely on Dial up like me and would love to avoid as many unimportant mails. I did not mean, informing about Off-topic messages is unimportant but they are only importantto user who sent Off topic message and thus enable him / her to take necessary care in the future. Hope people don't mind this personal request and any views on this are welcome to my personal ID [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I would not entertain any replies sent to list. [AI] Jaws performance issues...
Hi friends ! This weekend, I found my home system was not performing as smoothly as it has been in the past. I am using Jaws 5.x with Windows 2000 Prof and the problems I am facing include Jaws not reading out the items in the Start menu, Task Bar, Menu titles in applications (like File, Edit, etc). I have gone through the usual settings check list of ensuring the window is maximised, the classic desktop being enabled and Normal view set in Word etc. Any solutions ? Thanks and regards RS M: 98 472 76 126 To unsubscribe send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] Toshiba Readies New HD DVD Players
As someone (a blind person) who writes on technology, I personally find the postings very useful. It's general stuff about technology that helps all of us, because, when you go back to your peer groups and talk about the latest postings about Windows Vista, you will be asked how you got that and you can then say how useful AI is. For your kind information, that's what I do. A sighted person reads posters and boards but unfortunately we can not do so, therefore Internet and email is are the best medium to get general information.
