[AI] New browser combines web search with Facebook
The Hindu: S T » Internet London, November 9, 2010 New browser combines web search with Facebook IANS A screenshot of a Facebook page. File Photo AP A screenshot of a Facebook page. File Photo A new internet browser that requires a Facebook log-in has been unveiled, aimed squarely at social networking users. Called RockMelt, it has been set up by Marc Andreessen, the founder of Netscape. Based on Google’s Chromium software, Rockmelt is designed to let users share everything they do with the friends on Facebook and Twitter. Down the side of each web page visited is a selection of each user’s most-used Facebook Friends and Twitter contacts, reports the Daily Mail. A statement on the firm’s blog read: “With RockMelt, we’ve re-thought the user experience, because a browser can and should be about more than simply navigating Web pages. “Today, the browser connects you to your world. Why not build your world right into your browser?” The browser makes it particularly easy to share links with friends by dragging pictures, URLs or videos onto one of the small photos, known as ‘edges’ that line the browser’s window. Because you have to sign in before using Rockmelt, all of your favourite sites, blogs and friends are listed when you log in. The browser alerts you when a new story, video, or post appears on the sites you visit the most, without you having to leave the webpage you are currently on. However, the fact that a user’s entire web search history, friends and favourite sites are known by RockMelt, will alarm those wary of handing over personal information to tech firms. The firm claims that this browsing information will not be sold to advertisers. “We are not going to run an ad network. We actually don’t know where you go,” co-founder Tim Howes told website TechCrunch. “That information does not leave your browser.” The way you search on the internet is also different with RockMelt. Instead of a whole page of search results from Google, only the first 10 results come up, displaying the web page of each result before you click on it. [AI] Opening the doors to the differently-abled
Opening the doors to the differently-abled 'Opportunity Network for the Disabled' is a new initiative aimed at mainstreaming the differently-abled by facilitating employment in different sectors Photo: R. Ragu Tapping the potential: Candidates at an employability Fair. With good training, the disabled can create value for employers. Employing the differently-abled can be more productive for business. That is the goal of a new initiative that aims to reach out to one lakh differently-abled students spread across eight states in the next five years. Non-profit organisation Wadhwani Foundation has entered into a partnership with the American India Foundation (AIF) to train and place persons with disability through AIF's Market Aligned Skills Training Programme. Opportunity According to Ajay Kela, president and CEO, Wadhwani Foundation, five to six per cent of the population is differently-abled and their representation in corporate India is less than 0.5 per cent. 'Opportunity Network for the Disabled' is a new initiative where persons with disability would be given skill training programme such that it helps them get sustainable high quality jobs, said Mr. Kela. While AIF would identify and train potential candidates, the Wadhwani Foundation is connecting with corporates in various sectors to employ the skilled. Options Retail, hospitality, BPO, IT, ITeS and infrastructure management are some of the potential sectors. Candidates who have completed class X or XII would be chosen for the programme where training would be offered depending on the level of disability - hearing impaired, visually challenged, physically challenged - to be employed in a sector. Nearly 5,000 people have been enrolled for the pilot programme, which would be extended every quarter. Mr. Kela also pointed out that the level of attrition is less when people with disability are employed. As the programme scales up, the foundation is also planning to create a social networking site to enable potential candidates log in and register with their requirements. - LIFFY THOMAS The source taken from The Hindu, education + __ Please feel free to pass your comments, feedbacks new ideas to the below menntioned contact details. Re: [AI] help me to purchous an i pot
And, a very warm hello to you. iTunes is a music management software program created by Apple, which is required for doing anything on an iPod. It is used to synch your music files to your player and for just about anything you might want to do with your player. One cannot just copy and paste files onto an iPod, one has to go through iTunes, as the iPods do not show up as removable drives on your computer. If one has an iPod, one can use iTunes to purchase media such as music, audiobooks, etc. If one has an iPod Touch, iPad, or an iPhone, one can use the iTunes store to also purchase applications for use on ones device. I have heard of these devices being referred to as purchase delivery devices, as one is supposed to solely use iTunes for purchasing ones content, which makes Apple billions of dollars a year. In my opinion, these devices are way overpriced, and Apple should just give these devices away. They would make more money in the end through iTunes. There is a percentage of blind/vision-impaired people who find iTunes inaccessible and so pay $75 for specialized scripts for JAWS so that they can then use iTunes and their iPods. There are others who do not find a need to use these expensive scripts, as they find iTunes accessible enough to use. It depends on the user. If one can get past any of its accessibility faults, iTunes is usable. Regards, Laz Dr. Yogesh Sharma yogesh.sharma...@gmail.com wrote: A very warm hi to Laz, Vetri and all friends, thank you very much for your elaborate replies. I have one more curiosity. Re: [AI] nead color recogniser for nokia n79
Austin The Great, In my knowledge nuance does not provide you with the colour recognition software. The option available for you is to go with the colour recognizer provided by code factory, for which you can obtain 30 days trial lisence. There is another product available free of cost I think from seeingwithsound or some brother of it! but not sure. Contact Pranav Lal sir. Enjoy Colour Recognizing! And oh yes, do drop me a feedback mail on the performance of codefactory colour recognizer if you decide to give it a try please?
