well I would suggest you check once with the instalation of the fresh windows.
if the problem persists, then it is the issue with the battery and ask
the service centre to change the battery.

Respected Sir,
Sub: praying an immediate legal actions to stop all blind-prank
videos in youtube – regarding.
Ref.: Rights of persons with disability act 2016 section7.1, 89, 90 and 92.A.
Now a days, the culture of creating and publishing videos in the
name of ‘blind-prank’ on the platform of Youtube have increased. Most
of them use the theme of blindness as a butt of joke. We point out and
enclose the links of three Tamil Blind-prank videos, in which the
personification of the visually impaired persons are so abusive and
averse manner.
1. Prank Master
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tiR_emxi2g

2. Tamil Medium Pasanga
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LvNNw3KorI

3. Kovai 360

Through their visual contents, above three video makers have had
a fun of disability for their own sake, but it deeply demoralise and
denigrate the dignity of visually impaired persons. Using disability
as a mocking portrait must be stopped at any cost. Otherwise, it will
create more indelible misconceptions about persons with disabilities

as the three videos exclusively violate the sections of Rights
of persons with Disabilities Act 2016 which are pointed in the above
reference, we file a petition to demand you to take necessary actions
for removing these three video contents from the Youtube platform. We
further request you to make necessary arrangements to include safety
measures of disabled persons on the basis of RPD act 2016 in the
community guidelines of Google India.
Thanking you,

Chitra

Re: [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

2020-12-15 Thread Sunil Sangtani.
Hi Kriti, hope you would be doing great.
As suggested by other experienced members, I would suggest the same
but a slightly different way.
1) Go for A back of each and everything that you believe you don’t want to
lose.
2) Make sure you have a backup of the windows license key if your
laptop came with a license key, usually this remains in your bios and
won’t go away even you format your hard disk, you can also see whether
your windows key is there in your Microsoft account or not.
3) Made bootable windows installation DVD/us drive,
4) Complete erase and re-partition of the hard disk and install
windows and only the required drivers with all the updates.
I had same experiences with my Sony and dell laptops. And could only
resolved after doing this.
As far as part replacement is concerned, then usually the certified
service center people don’t do this, but if you have problems with the
system, get it replaced with them.

Re: [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

2020-12-15 Thread Vikas Kapoor
In my opinion, while draining out of your laptop battery might be due
to some software/driver issue, if it is charging faster than the
normal speed (as indicated in your mail) could potentially be a sign
of battery damage.

[AI] Letter to MSJE - on RCI Act proposed amendments

2020-12-15 Thread National Platform For The Rights of the Disabled
Text of Letter sent to the Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment today
morning. It is self-explanatory.

*Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot*

*Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment*

*Government of India*

*Dear Gehlot ji,*

We are approaching you, having learnt about the proposal by the Department
of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, to amend the Rehabilitation
Council of India Act.

Without doubt, the RCI Act is outdated and it precedes even the 1995
Persons with Disabilities Act. Various developments have taken place since
then, which need to be taken into account. Nevertheless, we find that the
proposed amendments do not fully reflect and take cognisance of the immense
changes that have taken place. We feel that the attempt is piecemeal.

You may recall that after India ratified the UN Convention on Rights of
Persons with Disabilities, the process to harmonise our laws started with a
set of over a hundred amendments being proposed to the Persons with
Disabilities Act, 1995. However, disability rights organisations and
activists, felt, and rightly so, that amendments would not suffice to
reflect the UNCRPD. The government of the day agreed and the process of
drafting a new law to replace the PwD Act started, which was finally passed
during your first tenure as MSJE in December 2016.

Apart from the latest developments, what we observe is that the amendments
do not take into account the myriad issues including the functioning and
administration of the RCI, about which complaints are galore. While some of
these can be in the form of amendments, they would fail in adopting a
holistic approach. Our intent here is not to go into the details of the
amendments being proposed.

We firmly believe that what is needed is a new legislation to replace the
Rehabilitation Council of India Act, 1992. This sentiment is also being
expressed by various other organisations and disability rights activists
with whom we have had informal consultations. The department may also
solicit responses from other stakeholders on this.

We sincerely hope that you will consider this demand seriously and will not
proceed to get the amendments passed in haste.

In the meanwhile, we would also request that time be extended for at least
a month for stakeholders to respond to the proposals.

With regards

Yours sincerely,

sd/-

Re: [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

2020-12-15 Thread Satguru Rathi

Hi,

I too, wanted to suggest this but missed it some how. The HP support
assistant is a grate way to optimize your HP machine; it usually comes
preloaded on the newer machines but can be downloaded for older laptops
as well. Most of the parts are accessible with Jaws and NVDA and one is
able to perform most of the checks. It can even check and download if
there are updates for the drivers and other HP apps. The most common
issues can be troubleshooted through this tool.

Best,

Satguru.

*Subject:* [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

Dear Access Indians,

As the subject suggests, I am facing an issue with my HP laptop.

I bought this laptop around a year ago, and it was giving me a
battery backup of minimum of 5-6 hours.

Recently I noticed that the battery started draining very quickly,
and even the charging became very rapid. Concerning the same, I
lodged a complaint with HP Customer Care. Following the same, an
Engineer came to my place and after checking my laptop, he updated
my Bios, saying that ‘This issue was because of the older version
of the Bios’. But even after that, the battery issue remained the
same.

Lastly after all this, he said that, ‘There is no other option,
than to take your laptop to the service center, to check all the
possible errors’. To which I agreed, and he took my laptop for 2 days.

Now after 2 days I got my laptop back, but with the same battery
issue, stating that, your windows needs to be recovered.

Now, I am looking for your guidance regarding 2 of my concerns-

1.I am feeling skeptical that, if my hardware has been tampered
with? So, is there any way out to check whether my hardware is
original?

2.Shall I opt for windows recovery? Isn’t there any other solution
than this? Because according to them, my laptop’s hardware is
perfectly fine, and there are some resource files running because
of which battery is draining badly.

Hoping for a quick response.

Thanks and Regards,

Kriti Banga

Re: [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

2020-12-15 Thread Vaibhav Saraf
Hi,

A quick search revealed that the battery's manufacture date and the number
of cycles can be checked from HP Support Assistant application. Have a look:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Can-I-find-out-if-any-piece-from-the-laptop-has-been-changed/m-p/6932150#M489453

I am not sure if that will work with screen reader as I did not find the
app in my HP laptop.

Thanks,
Vaibhav

About the tampering, only a hardware expert can see to it, I don't think
there is a concrete way to check it by the means of software.

Windows recovery is the most recommended for performing any recovery,
important files you can backup on google drive if have a good internet.

Re: [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

2020-12-15 Thread Satguru Rathi

Hi,

I don't know if it is even related to the problems you described, but
over a month back I received an update from Microsoft stating that it
has optimized my HP battery. So, may be, see if there is similar update
available for your machine as well. As to your concern regarding
tampering with the hardware, generally, there is no option to check that
and one is compelled to trust the service center and they usually don't
do such things. You might also like to reset your PC and download and
install the Windows as a fresh if this might be causing such issues.
When resetting the PC, there is  an option which allows to install the
Window from the local copy or download a fresh. The latter would require
at least 4GB of data so make sure you got enough data when putting it to
download the Window.

Best,

Satguru.

Dear Access Indians,

As the subject suggests, I am facing an issue with my HP laptop.

I bought this laptop around a year ago, and it was giving me a battery
backup of minimum of 5-6 hours.

Recently I noticed that the battery started draining very quickly, and
even the charging became very rapid. Concerning the same, I lodged a
complaint with HP Customer Care. Following the same, an Engineer came
to my place and after checking my laptop, he updated my Bios, saying
that ‘This issue was because of the older version of the Bios’. But
even after that, the battery issue remained the same.

Lastly after all this, he said that, ‘There is no other option, than
to take your laptop to the service center, to check all the possible
errors’. To which I agreed, and he took my laptop for 2 days.

Now after 2 days I got my laptop back, but with the same battery
issue, stating that, your windows needs to be recovered.

Now, I am looking for your guidance regarding 2 of my concerns-

1.I am feeling skeptical that, if my hardware has been tampered with?
So, is there any way out to check whether my hardware is original?

2.Shall I opt for windows recovery? Isn’t there any other solution
than this? Because according to them, my laptop’s hardware is
perfectly fine, and there are some resource files running because of
which battery is draining badly.

Hoping for a quick response.

Thanks and Regards,
