2022-09-06 Thread Aravind R
Leaving a job is not a bad idea.
But, you have to ensure the same or more amount or income in newer job
before quittin this sir.
Based on english literature degree, i feel you can try for software
documentation in IT field, or writing reviews on books/films or editer
in news paper.
There should be many jobs based on your interest which you have to
start searching slowly. Until that, continuing public sector job will
be suitable.
Telephone related jobs in public sector will vanish within 15 years i
assume due to automated softwares in digital lending etc.

Re: [AI] Your guidance required for switching the profession

2022-09-06 Thread Minar Singh
Hi Aziz,
Every job is stressful. Please go through the identified roles for the
Visually Impaired bank employees and request your manager for the role
shifting. These days getting into the big MNCs is bit difficult
because they look for candidates having some amount of work experience
in a specific domain. But there are many small and mid-size IT
companies looking for candidates they may recruit you, but your
current work experience will not be considered. I will not recommend
the tele caller's job in a private company because initial pay will
not be sufficient. I think switching into private companies from the
public sector is not a wise decision. These are my opinions. Final
decisions will be yours.

[AI] Your guidance required for switching the profession

2022-09-06 Thread Aziz Minat
Hi there,

Actually I work as an officer in one of the public sector bank I would not
name due to regulation compulsion, but since almost here I have been
reduced as a telecaller which I feel stressful for my mental health as well
as my work life balance. The situation of constantly being on call is
affecting my mental health and reducing my efficiency I feel. So in view of
that I am thinking of switching the job where my abilities duely recognised
and I am having job satisfaction as well as proper work life balance.

Let me give you bit of idea about me, I did my masters in English
literature from Gujarat University, and have been active in some or the
other mediums through civil society as well as other organisations in
Ahmedabad. One thing I am in mind is the work where I have to work as a
content creator and second is in field of digital accessibility. 902 as it
was the need of that time due to financial constraints I was facing and
thankfully I could clear it without taking any help of a scribe for my
clearance as it is the norm these days. I am also applying for net jrf but
have been unable to clear the same. So in view of that, I would highly
appreciate if you can aprise me of the scope in above mention fields of
content creation as well as digital accessibility and any other fields you
may think off.

We had a hearing just now.

I am copying below some of the problems that I had shared last week-please
recheck if anything is better than it was.

Blind user 1

“As I validated my return form and clicked ‘Pay Now’, I selected other banks,
that is, the second option. In the second option, I found my bank and clicked
on ‘submit’.

I was taken to NSDL site which had a captcha before I could I continue. There
was no voice captcha or text captcha available or any other option. Hence I had
to take assistance”

Blind user 2

“I need to download an old return which I cannot download at all”

Blind user 3

“1. The selection in combo box and list boxes is not readable once you have
selected the desired option.

2. The text around input fields like radio buttons is not properly marked up
which leaves user confused around how to select appropriate radio buttons and
other input fields.

3. The login section especially login button is indeed difficult to find for
people with low vision as the relevant accessibility standards are not complied
with.”

Blind user 4

“I was trying to file a revised return. I had to put in the acknowledgement
number and date. The date field said read only. But I know, the date is to be
inserted. Maybe it should have been autofilled. Anyway, I tried it several
ways, using jaws cursor, turning the virtual cursor off and also trying
different zoom levels. But it did not work.”

Blind user 5

“I have submitted three returns for my friends. Every time, when I eVerify,
there is a check box to approve the declaration. This checkbox is inaccessible
with jaws. By trial and error, I get the checkbox and after getting it, I have
to perform enter pass through command by pressing insert plus 3. Then only I am
able to activate this checkbox”

Blind user 6

“traces where we have to download form 26AS from, is still holding captcha.
Secondly, if one chooses to deposit the tax amount via internet banking, some
banks offer captcha. So, now the problem lies with external sites like traces,
NSDL etc.”

There are so many high severities fastpass bugs. Can you ask developers to run
Microsoft Accessibility insights tool on each page and check? Fastpass bugs may

Hi all! I have some braille ready files, which someone sent me via email. But I
don’t have any braille display that I can read them with. Is there any option,
that I can read BRF files in my mobile device? I had heard from someone, that I
can convert BRF into text, but I don’t know the process of the same. Kindly
suggest me any way if it is possibleto fulfil my above requirement. Thanks.

[AI] Reading braille ready files without any braille display

2022-09-06 Thread Aman Preet Singh
Thanks.

[AI] Five ways the metaverse could be revolutionary for people with disabilities

2022-09-06 Thread Krishan kumar Sharma
The invention of the world wide web in 1989
eventually
brought about life-changing tools for everyone who can access it. Some of
these tools, such as online banking, shopping and communication, have
vastly improved the accessibility of daily life

for
people with disabilities, as well as older people.

The concept of virtual mobility
 has
long been used to describe how the internet can provide an accessible
alternative to activities that usually require physical mobility. Virtual
mobility was in full swing during the pandemic, as work, entertainment and
socialising efficiently moved online. The metaverse – the next phase of the
internet powered by virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) – has the
potential to take things even further

.

Working with Meta, the Royal National Institute of Blind People and other
inclusive design-focused partners, our team of researchers will be
investigating the potential of the metaverse to introduce life-changing
benefits for disabled and older people, as well as developing solutions to
improve its accessibility and inclusivity in our new project Towards an
Equitable Social VR
.
Here are five areas where the metaverse could take virtual mobility to the
next level.
1. Social life

The benefits of conventional social media
 for
disabled people have been long established. Designed well, social spaces in
the metaverse will advance these benefits through social virtual reality
,
which mimics in-person interaction, and permit people to interact freely
without the obstacles that exist in the physical world.

Importantly, users in metaverse platforms like Meta’s Horizon Worlds
 will be able to
represent themselves using virtual avatars. Research
suggests that
virtual avatars are a means through which some disabled people reflect
aspects of their disability as a central part of their identity.

Others may self-represent through avatars that are totally imagined. The
metaverse gives users freedom and creativity in terms of how they want to
be seen and eliminates preconceptions that disabled and older people might
face when interacting with others in person.
2. Education

The metaverse can potentially improve the range and quality of education
delivery pathways available to disabled users, as well as late-life
learning. Immersive technologies mean that higher education could be
delivered in an engaging way, without requiring physical attendance.

This mode of delivery would eliminate some of the factors that exclude many
people from accessing quality education, such as needing to move away from
home or travel to a physical campus. There are also numerous opportunities
to use the metaverse for remote coaching, personal development
 and skills training

.
3. Work

The pandemic has shown how quickly we can adjust to new ways of working. A
considerable number of people expect to work in the metaverse one way or
another. A recent survey by Microsoft found that only 16% of the 31,102
survey participants, across generations, did not see themselves carrying
out at least some of their job duties as “metawork
”
in the near future.
[image: A group of professionals in an office wearing VR headsets and
interacting in the metaverse, focus is on a young woman in a wheelchair]
Most people expect the metaverse will play some role in their work in the
near future. DisobeyArt / Shutterstock

The metaverse can provide access to the types of work that one’s disability
or age might otherwise make it difficult for them to access in the physical
world. There is a growing community of designers getting ready to create
the virtual interiors that will
exist only within the metaverse. Other areas with interesting metaverse-based
job prospects

are
digital fashion, real estate and, of course, building the Metaverse itself.

The Zomato 16.5.9 onwards builds on IOS will allow you to place orders.
There are still certain gaps which we are working on, but any areas which
require attention please feel free to highlight. For adding items, use the
one finger down gesture just as we select actions.

Will post separately for Android once the build is live. Also any

[AI] Income Tax portal

2022-09-06 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
We had a hearing just now.

I am copying below some of the problems that I had shared last week-please
recheck if anything is better than it was.

Blind user 1

"As I validated my return form and clicked 'Pay Now', I selected other
banks, that is, the second option. In the second option, I found my bank and
clicked on 'submit'.

I was taken to NSDL site which had a captcha before I could I continue.
There was no voice captcha or text captcha available or any other option.
Hence I had to take assistance"

Blind user 2

"I need to download an old return which I cannot download at all"

Blind user 3

"1. The selection in combo box and list boxes is not readable once you have
selected the desired option.

2. The text around input fields like radio buttons is not properly marked up
which leaves user confused around how to select appropriate radio buttons
and other input fields.

3. The login section especially login button is indeed difficult to find for
people with low vision as the relevant accessibility standards are not
complied with."

Blind user 4

"I was trying to file a revised return. I had to put in the acknowledgement
number and date. The date field said read only. But I know, the date is to
be inserted. Maybe it should have been autofilled. Anyway, I tried it
several ways, using jaws cursor, turning the virtual cursor off and also
trying different zoom levels. But it did not work."

Blind user 5

"I have submitted three returns for my friends. Every time, when I eVerify,
there is a check box to approve the declaration. This checkbox is
inaccessible with jaws. By trial and error, I get the checkbox and after
getting it, I have to perform enter pass through command by pressing insert
plus 3. Then only I am able to activate this checkbox"

Blind user 6

"traces where we have to download form 26AS from, is still holding captcha.
Secondly, if one chooses to deposit the tax amount via internet banking,
some banks offer captcha. So, now the problem lies with external sites like
traces, NSDL etc."

6th September 2022

Hello madam,

There are so many high severities fastpass bugs. Can you ask developers to
run Microsoft Accessibility insights tool on each page and check? Fastpass
bugs may cause accessibility issues for the screen reader users. It can be
downloaded from here:

https://accessibilityinsights.io/

Who is willing to do a simulated ITR1 and ITR 4with the Income Tax team.
