Re: [AI] IE7 or IE8: which is more accessible?
Recently, I installed IE 8. But I am facing a strange problem regarding the combobox. When I press alt down arrow to open the combobox, it gets open. But when I press alt up arrow to close it, jaws says close listbox but it does not get close. For that I have to press numpad pluss. Is this problem related with IE8 or it may be any other kind of problem. Re: [AI] IE7 or IE8: which is more accessible?
Agreed, but don't you think if the problem is simply accessibility, folks fix it as time goes by (this may not apply to Windows Vista for accessibility alone is not its problem). IE8 is out for more than a year and so surely some of its teething problems may have been fixed by now. That's why I thought perhaps it's a good idea to have IE8. Re: [AI] IE7 or IE8: which is more accessible?
Hiya As usual, Microsoft rolled out the latest version of Internet Explorer —IE8—to compete with arch rival Mozilla’s latest version of Firefox, the Firefox 3.0 that was gaining tremendous popularity. But, IE8 indeed had something special about it. Even the experts and users proclaimed that the basic browsing and productivity features in IE8 were superior in comparison to the other leading browsers. The user interface featured many changes and these are summarized below. When you compare IE7 to IE8, Internet Explorer 8 indeed has the upper hand over Internet Explorer 7. But, many users are still sceptical about using IE8 due to a whole lot of issues in the latest version. Internet Explorer 8 does create problems on some machines, the major one being its nonresponsiveness at times. On some machines, the problem is so recurring that it has led to several discussions in thousands of forums that brand Internet Explorer 8 as a useless browser. However, the latest version of Internet Explorer is the most stable browser among all its predecessors. Before moving towards troubleshooting on how to repair Internet Explorer 8, I would like to inform you of the reason why it takes so much time to load. If you have used Internet Explorer 8, you will agree that there are many features in the latest version of the Internet Explorer. When you open a fresh window of Internet Explorer, it makes you wait for a long time before presenting you with the menu for navigation. This is because it has to load all of the default accelerators and plug-ins in addition to the ones you must have added to the browser. Most of these add-ons and plug-ins have to be loaded into the electronic memory before you can browse. Other extras (additional plug-ins) are loaded on demand and are cached for further use. Please let me know, if someone has any problem with IE8 and step by step guide to fix those problems on some machines Cheers - KG On 24 Feb 2010, at 04:52 PM, Subramani L lsubram...@deccanherald.co.in wrote: Even logically, it makes sense to switch to the latest version of any product. Re: [AI] IE7 or IE8: which is more accessible?
IE 8 is the best compared to the IE 7. there are some new rich features which are supported. Jaws 9 might have some issues with IE 8 It is more secure and i find it to be a bit fast. read if interested for new improvements: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288472%28VS.85%29.aspx hope it helps: but anyway a big fan of firefox here so had not explored much: Regards: Srikanth On 2/25/10, KARAN GUPTA kara...@gmail.com wrote: I second that. Re: [AI] IE7 or IE8: which is more accessible?
Mr. Srikant, I second your opinion about IE 8 and I haven't found any problems using IE 8 either accessibility wise or stability wise in IE 8 as of now (Note that I'm using Jaws 10). Also, when you say that you are preferring Firefox over IE, kindly tell me is it completely accessible with JAWS as much as IE is, because I have been using Firefox over a year now and I personally feel that it is not all that good while using it with JAWS, some e.g. which I have experienced are: while browsing through tables using Ctrl+alt+ down arrow, sometimes it says bottom of column though my cursor is still in the middle of the table and plenty of rows are there below that. while using tabs, sometimes Jaws doesn't read the correct tab, to simplify I can say: suppose I have three tabs - google.com,msn.com yahoo.com and google.com is the tab which is activated currently Sometimes when I press ctrl+tab, though firefox shows that the tab has been changed to the next one i.e. msn.com, but Jaws still doesn't recognize that and keeps on reading the page at google.com. I hope I was able to make myself understandable.. Re: [AI] IE7 or IE8: which is more accessible?
Geetha, Switch to IE8. I have not encountered any accessibility difficulties with the browser per se. Plus, in terms of keeping your computer, IE8 is the way to go. Jaws 9 is becoming long in the tooth so you may have issues with bowth IE7 and IE8.
