Re: [AI] require some info regarding scanner
Yes, Epson is still my preferred choice of scanners. They are extremely fast and offer very good scan quality. But I couldn't find one in India when I was looking to buy it a couple of years ago. I had to import it from Singapore. Unfortunately, I am not aware of the low end models available these days and their performance. For my scanning needs, I am now using an HP Scanjet 8200 which is a legal sized scanner and scans a full page (legal) in less than 6 seconds. But this thing costs upwards of 27000. Hetal, You can buy most of the standard flat bed scanners available in the market and then use some optical character recognition or OCR software to convert your scanned images to text that Jaws or any other screen readers can read. Most of the HP scanners available in the market like HP or BenQ can be used. OCR software include FineReader or Kurzweil 1000 which is a scanning and reading application specially designed for the blind. Re: [AI] require some info regarding scanner
Hello Yes, there are scanners, by which you can scan books. But, the paper quality and print of the text should be very clear, in my opinion. With this you need to have a software called 'kurzveil', which will read the text, or rather image. Remember, that you would not be able to get 100 per cent clarity by it, I suppose. By the way, I think that this is your first mail if I'm not wrong. May I have the liberty to know that what are you doing etc!
