Re: [AI] Fwd: Request for Adopting Accessibility in Paytm App

2016-11-27 Thread shankar shan
hi thilak,
as ajay said, the app is almost accessible.
its just my observation.
once you entered the cvv and click next, there will be a page
displayed to enter your password, bbut, it takes time to open the
keyboard, its because, it takes time to load the page. once you enter
the password, and click on pay button, it takes time.
if the action does not take place once you click on the pay button, it
may be issue with the app or talkback issues.

hence, requested to disable the screen reader and try click on the pay button.
in case, if there is any issues with your password or cvv also, the
action cannot take place with the pay button.

the screen shot does not make sence, capture the video and send them.

talkback just announces button, buttone but can’t makeout what those
buttons are for, but I strongly feel we all should write to them and

with the statement that “Paytm is 100% accessible” it is not 100%
accessible it is somehow usable and manageable, what if tomorrow they

I feel this is the right time to let them know how important is to

Re: [AI] Sources close to social justice minister: new notes of Rs 100 Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are braille compliant

2016-11-27 Thread Prashant Verma
Got to see both the new 500 and 2000 notes. On one side there are very small
raised lines with small gaps between them.
I think they are difficult to count and as the currency note gets old, I wonder
how legible they will be.
Someone told me that RBI thinks they will not fade with use. Anyway, counting
them requires sensitive fingers, something which not everyone may have.
The new 500 note is almost the same length as current 20 note and the new 2000
note is same length as old 500 note. The new 500 note is shorter than current
100 note.
I think identification has become very difficult for visually impaired now.
This is very insensitive of the government.

We should also take into consideration the thickness of new notes, is it ideal
for embossing braille mark on it? I don't think so!
The ideal and long-lasting solution must be to create different shapes on the
left or right corner of these note papers which will remain till the life of
notes...

[AI] Railway official made fun of my blindness last week

Dear all,
It was horrifying experience while trying to submit application for obtaining
unique number for online concession railway ticket. I am copying the letter
which I have emailed to DRM office and to railway minister and request you all
to send an email to Railway minister

I have already send an email but plan to send a hardcopy to Railway Minister as

SUB: Complain against insensitive officer in your department who used Abusive
Language (Gali) during Application submission for obtaining Unique Number for
online concession

Dear Sir,
My name is Mohammed Asif Iqbal and I lost my total eye sight at the age of 16
years old. Never the less; I receive my primary, secondary and partial college
education from United States. I became the first blind commerce graduate from
St. Xavier’s college, Calcutta, first MBA (HR) from symbiosis (SCMHRD) Pune and
was instrumental in creating handicap quota in IIMs, IIT; s and all government
aided Universities and colleges of India. I currently am employed with Pwc
India Pvt. Ltd as Sr. Manager Advisory and expertise in HR consulting and
domain. I am also a proud recipient of various award including
national award constituted by President of India, State role model award,
United nation community change champion award, etc. I had pleasant experience
of interacting with Ms. U Hazarika, executive director IT, Indian Railway at
Railway board who was kind enough to implement our recommendation for making
IRCTC disabled friendly. I was also part of national movement for initiating
purchasing online concession for disabled citizens.

I have requested my friend friend Shri Harendra sahto submit prescribed
application along with supporting documents on my behalf and my brother who is
also blind and currently employed at Tata Cummins. Your official refused to
accept application as this application need to be submitted in person. He also
refused on account of no proof of date of birth and there is a variation in
signature. I would like to point out that I have submitted a copy of
passport, Pan card and Aadhar card and signature variation would exist as we
both are blind. I did manage to take some time off and went to submit
application in person along with Shri Harendra . I and my brother
also placed LTI in addition to our signature. I reached DRM office around 1:50
PM and waited till 3:05 PM as official was on lunch. We were second in the
queue and when our turn came; official examined the document and ordered us to
write an additional note “LTI is done in presence of Harendra sah for both
brothers application”. We politely told him that we could do this infront of
him as it would take few second. He insisted that we should get this done at a
different desk and stand in the back of queue. I also would like to bring to
your kind attention that this verification signature was not required but guess
official firmly believe in harassing persons with disability and make their
life hell. I pleaded with him politely to allow us to make this modification
but he was in no mood to entertain. He started misbehaving with us and then I
shouted at him in English. He lost his cool and use fall language (Gally) such
as bhan cho…. And andha ch….. I absolutely got furious and told him that I
would immediately visit DRM Sir to narrate this humiliating experience. He
threatened and shouted that DRM mother also will not do anything in this
regards and cursed me by using extremely bad language. We moved to the side
table and comply with his directive. We wanted to submit the final application
to him but he refused to accept it and left the counter.

We decided to escalate this incident to Mr. Gangopadhey , assistant commercial
manager (ACM). He patiently listened to us and called the official concerned.
Official concerned threatened to get us arrested by Railway police force( RPF)
for misbehaving with us infront of ACM. We retaliated him by asking to execute
his wish of getting us arrested; ACM intervened and literally ordered him to
shut up. Offficial threatened us to that he will not execute my application
process under no circumstances. ACM advised us to submit a court affidavit
declaring as date of birth as they don’t acknowledge government of India issued
document such as passport, Pancard, Aadhar which contain date of birth.
Sir, it indeed was painful and humiliating experience while submitting this
application and understand that many persons with disability would visit this
office for the same. I absolutely felt insulted and I am sure that government

Hi Shankar,

CVV comes in to picture when we make payment with our Debit Card or Credit
Card but I was trying to add cash by using Net Banking, I could follow all
process except the last step where money is supposed to deduct from Bank
Account and get added to Paytm there tapping doesn’t work at all on continue
Link/Button but tapping works on cancel however, when I stopped Talkback on
that particular section and asked sighted person to assist me to complete
the transaction it does work without Talkback. If you noticed there are lot
of buttons where talkback just announces button, buttone but can’t makeout
what those buttons are for, but I strongly feel we all should write to them
and get resolve whatever small accessibility issue we face, I don’t agree
with the statement that “Paytm is 100% accessible” it is not 100% accessible
it is somehow usable and manageable, what if tomorrow they ad some
complicated feature it may not be as accessible as today and I feel this is
the right time to let them know how important is to make their app fully
accessible.

Warm Regards,
Tilak.

its just my observation.
once you entered the cvv and click next, there will be a page
displayed to enter your password, bbut, it takes time to open the
keyboard, its because, it takes time to load the page. once you enter
the password, and click on pay button, it takes time.
if the action does not take place once you click on the pay button, it
may be issue with the app or talkback issues.

hence, requested to disable the screen reader and try click on the pay
button.
in case, if there is any issues with your password or cvv also, the
action cannot take place with the pay button.

the screen shot does not make sence, capture the video and send them.

SUB: Complain against insensitive officer in your department who used
Abusive Language (Gali) during Application submission for obtaining Unique
Number for online concession

Dear Sir,
My name is Mohammed Asif Iqbal and I lost my total eye sight at the age of
16 years old. Never the less; I receive my primary, secondary and partial
college education from United States. I became the first blind commerce
graduate from St. Xavier’s college, Calcutta, first MBA (HR) from symbiosis
(SCMHRD) Pune and was instrumental in creating handicap quota in IIMs, IIT;
s and all government aided Universities and colleges of India. I currently
am employed with Pwc India Pvt. Ltd as Sr. Manager Advisory and expertise in
HR consulting and domain. I am also a proud recipient
of various award including national award constituted by President of India,
State role model award, United nation community change champion award, etc.
I had pleasant experience of interacting with Ms. U Hazarika, executive
director IT, Indian Railway at Railway board who was kind enough to
implement our recommendation for making IRCTC disabled friendly. I was also
part of national movement for initiating purchasing online concession for
disabled citizens.

I have requested my friend friend Shri Harendra sahto submit prescribed
application along with supporting documents on my behalf and my brother who
is also blind and currently employed at Tata Cummins. Your official refused
to accept application as this application need to be submitted in person.
He also refused on account of no proof of date of birth and there is a
variation in signature. I would like to point out that I have submitted a
copy of passport, Pan card and Aadhar card and signature variation would
exist as we both are blind. I did manage to take some time off and went to
submit application in person along with Shri Harendra . I and
my brother also placed LTI in addition to our signature. I reached DRM
office around 1:50 PM and waited till 3:05 PM as official was on lunch. We
were second in the queue and when our turn came; official examined the
document and ordered us to write an additional note “LTI is done in presence
of Harendra sah for both brothers application”. We politely told him that
we could do this infront of him as it would take few second. He insisted
that we should get this done at a different desk and stand in the back of
queue. I also would like to bring to your kind attention that this
verification signature was not required but guess official firmly believe in
harassing persons with disability and make their life hell. I pleaded with
him politely to allow us to make this modification but he was in no mood to
entertain. He started misbehaving with us and then I shouted at him in
English. He lost his cool and use fall language (Gally) such as bhan cho….
And andha ch….. I absolutely got furious and told him that I would
immediately visit DRM Sir to narrate this humiliating experience. He
threatened and shouted that DRM mother also will not do anything in this
regards and cursed me by using extremely bad language. We moved to the side
table and comply with his directive. We wanted to submit the final
application to him but he refused to accept it and left the counter.

We decided to escalate this incident to Mr. Gangopadhey , assistant
commercial manager (ACM). He patiently listened to us and called the
official concerned. Official concerned threatened to get us arrested by
Railway police force( RPF) for misbehaving with us infront of ACM. We
retaliated him by asking to execute his wish of getting us arrested; ACM
intervened and literally ordered him to shut up. Offficial threatened us
to that he will not execute my application process under no circumstances.
ACM advised us to submit a court affidavit de

Re: [AI] Fwd: Request for Adopting Accessibility in Paytm App

2016-11-27 Thread Shreedhar TS.
Hi Tilak,

I am a regular Uber user and use paytm for almost all the bills and
recharges. I never faced the issue which you are describing with
regards to adding money with net banking. In my experience, the Paytm
app for android is completely accessible.
Perhaps you can try updating Paytm app as well as Android web view. It
is very essential to have Android web view updated since the apps like
paytm are heavily dependent on web view.

Hi Tilak,

Even I have used netbanking and don't face this issue. There was some
issue with read OTP screen but if you tap to the butten before the
textbox containing the edit box it'll take to your regular payment
gateway which is accessible. The problem can be device specific in
your case.

Re: [AI] Sources close to social justice minister: new notes of Rs 100 Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are braille compliant

2016-11-27 Thread Ajay Minocha
Agreed, those lines are not at all the reliable way to identify the
note. However, The new 500 note is broader than the 20 rupee note
which can be helpful as an identification method in case of using
rupee checker guide.

Re: [AI] Fwd: Request for Adopting Accessibility in Paytm App

2016-11-27 Thread Shreedhar TS.
Ajay,

I did not quite get "read OTP" I assume that you are talking about
automatically detecting OTP sent via SMS, then it depends on the
appropriate permission to the app. In my specific case, I have not
allowed the Paytm app for reading SMS/Call details and Photos./media
on my device.

Hi Shreedhar,

You must be running Android 6.0, because this feature isn't there in
the older versions. I have allowed it to access my contacts as I
frequently have to send money.

Agreed, those lines are not at all the reliable way to identify the
note. However, The new 500 note is broader than the 20 rupee note
which can be helpful as an identification method in case of using
rupee checker guide.

[AI] Reg. recorded cassettes

2016-11-27 Thread deepak singla
Hi all
One of my friends has a good collection of cassettes recorded for the
studies. But, now a days non-availability of tape recorders makes it
difficult to listen the same.

Is there any solution for the same? or, if there is any option
available that these cassettes can be converted into digital format?

Or, if anyone can suggest availability of handy tape recorder, it will
be appreciable.

Looking forward for a positive response.

Regards
Deepak Singla

Re: [AI] Workshop on empowering visually impaired for the cashless economy

2016-11-27 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
Is there any accessible wallet that I can get which allows me to transfer
money to someone who does not have the same wallet. I would transfer it to
their bank account directly from my wallet.
I use NEFT to pay salaries. I use E C S for paying all utilities.
I need to carry cash for taxis -some known drivers and some unknown. So I
would like to pay the known drivers through this wallet.
I also have to buy stamp paper in cash. This is generally through a single
vendor. I could transfer money to him but cannot force him to have a wallet
that I have.
I think oxygen used to have this facility and it worked on our old Nokia
phones. Is there something now available?

Re: [AI] Workshop on empowering visually impaired for the cashless economy

2016-11-27 Thread Sunil Sangtani.
hi,
paytm, freecharge and other wallets allows you to transfer the money
to any bank account.
they charge around 1%processing fee for this but currently its free.
if you have a varified account, the usage limit is higher, up to
5, per month, in case of basic account, the limit is 1rs.
the upcoming UPI system will be very useful in the given senario.

1. Paytm has option to transfer funds to Bank account
2. Other option, you may add regular vendors to your bank account and do a IMPS
where funds gets transferred instantly.
3. Some banks an option for you to do a quick transfer without adding as a
beneficiary.
