Dear Neha,

What exactly do you mean by travel solutions? Is it just booking
hotels or includes escort service? For example, if I have a work at
Delhi for a couple of days, can I get someone to escort me for a
payment?Mobility in completely new places with a time constraint
is a challenge for visually impaired.

Hi this is a very good move, mainly I am facing two or three issues.
1 there should be an option to set contact number processing selection of
choosing numbers to be spoken in digits right now it is not working in
default msgs.
2 when we are forwarding msgs in whatsapp from one group to another it is
taking too much time to speak.

3 curser control menu is not working in whatsapp.

Re: [AI] Feedback on Talkback

2017-01-06 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi Aravind Sir,
As per my understanding, the second and third issues described cannot
be fixed within Talkback. The cause of the excessive lag while
forwarding content in Whatsapp is because when our finger
intentionally or accidentally explores through or swipes between
groups, particularly those with a large member base, the TTS engine
needs to load speech synthesis data for that group name followed by
those many names (if contacts of members are saved), otherwise
numbers, and from a broader perspective, you can estimate how long
that chunk would be. The inaccessibility of the Cursor Control Menu
too is a Whatsapp bug, to the best of my understanding, since the edit
field has been incorrectly programmed in a manner that Talkback is
only able to move between the 'Type your message here' label or
prompt, instead of the actual typed content.
Although the first feature suggestion may be somewhat arguable as many
may expect number processing to be a synthesizer-packaged
functionality, as already is the trend with ETI Eloquence and
Vocalizer for Android, instead of the screen reader containing it, I
do second your request. Again slightly disputant, but a screen reader
built Emoji reading support, just like a screen reader contained
number processing facility, would ensure that Android users are able
to access these reading essentials across all TTS engines.
Thanks.

2017-01-06 Thread Aruni Sharma
Hello Akash, that's a very good move indeed. The talkBack eam at google is
not very responsive and forthcoming on accessibility challenges in TalkBack.
First of all, the latest talkback has stopped announcing Caller ID on
incoming calls.
@Secondly, it would be nice if TB starts supporting OpenOffice.
Thanks for now.
Looking forward to fruitful interactions.

Thanks.

taking too much time to speak.

[AI] Printer/ embosing for Blind

2017-01-06 Thread Shreyas Nagaraj reddy
hello people!
another request please!
The college, a close friend of mine and myself are in a plan of coming up with
an emboser which is a form of printer for us!
I believe the embosers which are in market currently are all by the foreign
ones!
Further more, this emboser does not only deal with braille text but, it would
consider to embose 2-D diagrams which are large enough to embose and which will
make the VI understand and comprehend..

I shall give an example to make this even more precise…
We can have an outline of Indian map and the outline can be embosed by this
equipment… Do you guys think is it a good idea or a bad idea? If any
suggestions and criticisms mentioned, it is really appreciated… Thanks in
advance Sent from my iPhone

Dear Friends,

I am Saravanan from Bangalore.
I wish you all a very happy new year 2017.
Most of the VI persons has been irritated or badly treated by some of
the public servants such as bus conductors or Disability card issueing
persons in hospitals or many goverment employees refusing to provide the
relaxations for VI's or some strangers critizising the VI's or some
rough persons behaving wrongly with Disabled persons in Handicapped
boggies, etc. Is there any possibility to take action on these persons.
If so, how to take action on them. Is there possibility to raise
complaint on them thru phone calls. Or elswhere we have to adjust
ourselves on our part and do maintain patience.
Please throw light on this matter.

SBI is notoriously ubiquitous in everything.
Name anything, and it is in SBI and it is not in SBI.

I was asked to submit xerox copy of my ID proof to deposit demonetized
notes in my KYC compliant account after standing in a queue for half an

This training is happening in SBI. Even in case of demonetisation,
SBI made an announcement in the internal site to arrange for

Despite the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) repeatedly issuing circulars

Re: [AI] Feedback on TalkBack

2017-01-06 Thread Sanchit Katiyar
It is a good initiative to take feedback directly from the users. The
response of Google Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine should be made more
efficient. The response of the Google TTS is comparitively slow than
the third party TTS engines such as E.T.I. Eliquence.

As has already been said that the editing process should be made easy.
Particularly copying of text should be focused upon.

The earlier versions of TalkBack used to announce the caller ID during
the incoming calls but the latest versions of TalkBack has stopped
announcing the caller ID. Announcement of the caller ID should be made
an integral component of the TalkBack rather than leaving it for the
original equipment manifectures (OEMs).

Apart from this, there should be an option in the TalkBack itself to
use different TTS engines for different languages.

Subject: [AI] Feedback on TalkBack

Hello everyone,

We at IIT Delhi are going to start working on adding more accessibility
features in the TalkBack under the collaboration with the Google TalkBack
Team. We will be highly delighted if you can provide us the major
challenges you face in day to day life in using TalkBack on your android
device.

Your inputs will help us in choosing major issues and setting up the
priorities for various tasks. Please feel free to contact me if you have
any confusion.

Keenly waiting for a warm response from all!
