Re: QuotaCheckError.ACCOUNT_INACTIVE at MCC Test Account and production developer Token
Hi, The problem is that your production MCC account is under a invoice agreement, and as such it can't accept our API terms and conditions, process that happen when you associate a regular credit card as payment method of your MCC account. You have two alternatives: 1) Create another MCC account just for development purposes, request a developer token from it and set a credit card as payment method (we are not going to charge this card since the API is free) 2) Manually sign, scan and email back to me (*only to me,* using the reply to author button) the attached PDF of API terms and conditions. Re: Urgent help! INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP, it's been lasting for a week!
Hi, I'm sorry you find the process to create test accounts complicated, recently we have made some change to it and you can now provision test accounts by yourself. Please read carefully this document https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/test-accounts on the new process to create test accounts works. I can tell you that your MCC 824-689-9971 is perfectly setup for use with test accounts, so you can use the developer token from this MCC. The problem is that your account 779-265-4485 is not a test account but rather a production account, therefore the error you are seeing*. *What you need to do is to follow the instructions outlined under the Getting started section in the guide. Re: Operations count in Single Service Operations vs MutateJobService (bulk update)
Hi, Aside from being a asynchronous service as you mentioned, so you can just fire it and then consume you CPU time in something else. You also gain the benefit of automatic retries for transient errors, so you don't have to code the retry logic yourself. Operations count is the same. Since it has a limit of 10k operations per job, we will still need to do this in chunks so from our server's point of view, it's pretty much the same amount of requests, plus we don't really mind that this is not async. However, in terms of operations, is a job (with all its included operations) counted as a single operation or we are still charged for every operation that is included in the MutateJobService? i.e. We want to submit 5000 operations to AdGroupService. through AdGroupService, 5000 operations count as 5000 ops against our daily limit. through MutateJobService, 5000 AdGroupService ops, count as 5000 ops, 5001 ops (does a job count as operation), or as 1 operation (because we went through bulk process) ? -- -- =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ Also find us on our blog and discussion group: http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups AdWords API Forum group. Re: Report to get (only) sitelinks
Hi Emmanuel, The PLACEHOLDER_FEED_ITEM_REPORT, a feed item can actually serve as a sitelink but also as other type of extension. Imagine it is just a row in a table (the feed) and it can be mapped to different type of extensions. The PlaceholderType will effectively segment the stats of your feed item by type, but as with any of our segment type of fields it will prevent zero impression. That is the reason why adding the impressions field will effectively make them show up, but you have to have accumulated impressions for such item. If you want to have an accurate view of all your feed items in the account you'll need to use the FeedItemService. There is most likely a bug with this report type whereby without the impressions filed included you can't get any results. You can simply ignore the impressions in the returned report. We also use the *PlaceholderType *as a predicate (set value to 1) and this way you will get back only the sitelinks. However, there is still one problem with this report. It will return all sitelinks that ever had an impression, even the deleted ones. We can't find a way to filter them out (yet). Re: Application Creation Procedures for many clients
Hi Hunter, 1) Client ID is associated with your developer project identity, in other words it identifies your application. So it has nothing to do with the account you are targeting, that is what the access/refresh token are related with. 2) There two authorization mechanisms associated with the API, one is directly getting the authorization for each client (one access token per account) or using an MCC account and linking it with every client account to access, in which case you'll only need an access/refresh token for the MCC. Re: Simple Questions about the OAuth2 access_token and Redirect URI
Hi Alan, You use your refresh token to generate new access tokens. Then the access token is the one you include in the API calls so your request get properly authorized, as you mentioned. So if you were able to generate a refresh token already, a call to https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/token allows you to generate an access token. As explained herhttps://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OAuth2InstalledApp#refresh e. But your mention to redirect URIs makes me think that you are in early stages of the OAuth2 protocol and haven't been able to generate a refresh token. In a simplistic way to describe it, you first redirect your user to our auth server so they can authorize your application to access their data, our server will then redirect to your application with a confirmation code (this is not an access or refresh token) that you then need to exchange for a pair of access token and refresh token. Access tokens are short lived and their lifetime is returned as part of the response, while refresh token don't expire and you should securely store these on your side. I'd recommend you carefully reading this doc pagehttps://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OAuth2 and also recommend you specifically reading about the Installed Apps flowhttps://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OAuth2InstalledApp BTW, I'd highly recommend you using our client libraries, which will greatly help you implement the whole auth logic since all of them offer utilities and code examples on how to deal with OAuth2. If you tell me what programming language your are working with I can point you to some of these resources. However I don't understand where the *access_token*gets returned to. In the Google APIs Console a Client ID for Installed applications gives no option for the redirect URIs, it's set as localhost as default. Could a firewall be preventing the access token from returning to my application? Many thanks. On Thursday, September 5, 2013 5:58:03 PM UTC+1, Brett Baggott wrote: Alan, here's a link to Google's official explanation of the different types of projectshttps://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OAuth2?csw=1#scenarios. I suggest that, instead of thinking of these different project types in relation to what _your_ application is, think of them in relation to how each is different. Here's my lame attempt at describing each of these projects in my own words: Web Application - This is for interactive applications that are going to allow any user (basically) to go through your application and authorize you to access their account via API and then your application will do whatever it is designed to do, most likely interactively. Installed Application - This is for an application that contains functionality that uses the Adwords API but authorization is most likely a one-time thing (at least in the way I think of it), probably accessing a specific account(s), and where authorization (or more likely refreshing of authorization) pretty much happens in the background. Service Application - This is the same as the Installed Application except it's meant to be run on a server and therefore even less user interaction. There's actually some assumed authorization processes that are pretty different from the Installed Application but for the purposes of my example here, is beyond the scope of discussion. So really I think of these different project types in terms of _how_ I'm going to handle authorization (i.e. interactively or built-in). As far as your question about the Redirect URI, think of it like the PayPal process. You click on a PayPal button on a website, you're taken to PayPal to sign in and authorize the payment, and then you are redirected at some point back to the vendors site so he can say Thank You. Well, in the same way you'd tell PayPal here's the URI I want you to redirect to after the payment is processed (i.e. my thank you page), you tell the Auth API where you want to redirect to after the user has authorized you to access their account. Hope that helps, ~Brett On Thursday, September 5, 2013 9:25:11 AM UTC-5, Alan Coleman wrote: Hello everyone, Apologies for my lack of understanding surrounding this topic and continuous post about the basics of the protocol. Re: More questions about PLACEHOLDER_FEED_ITEM_REPORT
Thanks Zweitze and Oliver, We are really taking your feedback seriously and looking for the best solutions in terms of documentation, client libraries and the API itself. Thanks for your patience. First of all, please review the report field table. You mentioned some fields are segment fields, note that the report field table does NOT list them as segment fields. But on a higher level, please document the structure of this matter. All I have to do is retrieve all ad extensions and the place (campaign or ad group) where they are found in the account. With legacy ad extensions, this could all be done with the CampaignAdExtensionService, but now we need five services. I hoped to circumvent this with a structure report, but no luck. Well, five services it is. Unlike the web interface, in the API the word Ad Extension is no longer used, instead new words are introduced: feeds, feed items and placeholders. These are very generic English words but an explanation is not supplied. Now every developer has to figure out the relation between feeds, feed items, feed place holders, feed associations, feed mappings and feed association functions. Apart from the explanation of the concepts, I'd like to see sample code that, given an ad with ad id 123 in ad group 456 of account 789, show a complete list of all ad extensions that may appear below that ad. I know that sample code exists to create new site links, but that appears to be a very isolated use case. Thanks! Re: Discrepancies between ad-hoc perf rpts - campaigns
Hi Williams, If you want to obtain all your campaigns using reports you need to use the campaign performance report and specifically include zero impression entities. The reason of the discrepancies could be because first you are excluding zero impression entities, also the auto placements report only reports on display campaigns, any search campaign won't show up in it. ad_performance report might include more campaigns than the keywords performance report if you have display only campaigns that use no keywords. Re: How to decide whether each campaign for one account has conversion tracking or not?
Hi Leo, There is no direct link between a campaign and a conversion tracker. The counting of conversions and the connection with a campaign is implicit and happens with a user that clicks on an ad (that belongs to a campaign) then generates a conversion in your website.
