do I read this correct, cambium shipped a product that didn't meet their

are they making right, as in shipping replacements at no cost?
not being a dick, their reuse has always been phenomenal, even though they
to this day refuse to admit the Motorola 320 doesn't sync for ABAB

Re: [AFMUG] OT spinner toy

2017-05-05 Thread Steve Jones
I just ordered a bunch of various spinners, cause my kids into them, I got
them from china, I am not afraid of lead
but these things retail between 5 and 10 bucks... or more each. I can find
them for more than 150 for 100 in any of the models
good markup for any retail shop or ebay store when you only need to dump
10-20 percent of your inventory to ensure profit on a product
as long as youre insured for lead poisoning.

Looking at my desk, which is cluttered, I assume there are three guys on
this list whos desks aren't cluttered, the bulk of stuff in my desk, aside
from the reams of printouts I intend on reading but couldn't anyway because
Ive jotted so many notes on them are project components, a nut with a
bolts, a mechanical pencil stripped to its parts, a gigeapc with a couple
cutoff patch cables, some rj45 ends with the clips shoved inside each
other, a paperclip holder with a bunch of ferrous shit in it, a couple rare
earths, broken ink pens whose clickers still work, in other words a bunch
of junk I fidget with. 4 bearings in a housing with a set of bearing covers
is genius, even if they don't even have the complexity of two legos

anybody remember finger boards, the little skateboards... somebody became a
millionaire off those because back then china pretended they weren't
ripping everybody off. I just bought a 65 dollar raspberry pi 3 kit with
case, power supply, heat sinks, Bluetooth remote, 16gb card (think its a
bootleg?... lol)

We have a few of those, some of which I’ve gotten off Ebay, and even one
locally that I picked up.

I wouldn’t say they hum, but maybe I didn’t notice that.

There might be something off with yours if it’s really loud while on AC power.

You can purchase the harness kits from vendors or Alpha I think.

I’ve gotten the battery harness kit and the temperature RJ14/11 cable after the
fact.

The only thing I couldn’t really find extra was the network module since it’s a
module that has the whole fan/wiring assembly inside.

The atmosphere of LANs has definitely changed though. Ten years ago it was
quite easy to get 30 nerds to play a particular game like Savage or UT

You’ll have a few guys in one area playing Overwatch, Halo, or Call of Duty,
more groups playing MOBAs like Dota/LoL, and then you have RPGs – WoW being the

Re: [AFMUG] Putty, is there any better?

2017-05-05 Thread Chris Wright
LAN parties are alive and well in my town. Next LAN is in five weeks! Honestly,
LAN party weekends beat out Thanksgiving for my favorite holiday.

The atmosphere of LANs has definitely changed though. Ten years ago it was
quite easy to get 30 nerds to play a particular game like Savage or UT
together. Today gamer culture has become divided as genres are better defined.
You’ll have a few guys in one area playing Overwatch, Halo, or Call of Duty,
more groups playing MOBAs like Dota/LoL, and then you have RPGs – WoW being the
most popular. Gamers are no longer “Gamers.” They’re “RTS Gamers” or “MOBA
Gamers” or “FPS Gamers”. Still, getting a bunch of people who abhor sunlight as
much as I do for a weekend of nostalgia amidst a tangle of Cat5 is just as fun
as it’s ever been.

I use "Bitvise SSH client" for my unix terminal needs. I use Putty and

I also have used SecureCRT in the past, but I have a hard time paying what

Just got one of these new / open box. I have a couple of questions though.

Do they normally produce a humming sound while powered up?

Is the battery connector something standard? I don't have the one that is

2017-05-05 Thread Bill Prince

I concur on the tires. Way, way better.

However. In the other direction is the quality of land line phone
service. I don't know about elsewhere, but in our rural setting, the
landline phone service has completely fallen off the cliff. It's worse
because whatever phone company does not want to spend a dime on
repairing the old phone lines. Even worse than that, many of the places
it's impossible to get any kind of internet service (including ours).
People buried in acres of 200-300+ foot tall trees and it's nearly
impossible to get POTS, or internet, or even satellite-type service.

Slide didn't come though. Picture the new ePMP 2000 sector antenna with
a 450i AP turned backwards and mounted directly on the back of the
sector. It's hawt. I want 3GHz too, Matt!

Darin - It was true that when it was first launched, and we had the 90
degree Mars sector antenna, the front-to-back of that antenna was not
good enough to do frequency re-use.

However, the current shipping integrated Access Points (part numbers
ending in “B”, e.g. C050045A006B) have a Cambium Networks-designed
antenna attached (more like a standard tall and narrow sector, rather
than a 14” square flat panel). This antenna was built with frequency
re-use in mind, and is optimized for use with the 450i platform. It
is a true 90 degree sector, and eliminates the need for jumper cables
as George mentions.

I have attached a slide highlighting this (if it comes through).

I habe a Amazon prime business account. Every employee has a separate

set so they can buy whatever they want valued less than $50. More than that

Re: [AFMUG] RF attenuators - Integrated 450i Sector

2017-05-05 Thread Matt Mangriotis
I want to make sure everyone has the correct information on this topic.

Darin - It was true that when it was first launched, and we had the 90 degree
Mars sector antenna, the front-to-back of that antenna was not good enough to
do frequency re-use.

However, the current shipping integrated Access Points (part numbers ending in
“B”, e.g. C050045A006B) have a Cambium Networks-designed antenna attached (more
like a standard tall and narrow sector, rather than a 14” square flat panel).
This antenna was built with frequency re-use in mind, and is optimized for use
with the 450i platform. It is a true 90 degree sector, and eliminates the need
for jumper cables as George mentions.

I have attached a slide highlighting this (if it comes through).

I think that the whole issue has to do with the nanobots they have running
the controls in the radios, theyve achieved self awareness. This time thing
and the fact that the distances fluctuates by a half mile or more is
evidence enough that the units are actually moving and self generating
power, its only a matter of time until they discover an unpatched UBNT on
our networks and create a C to control our customers IOT and we all
become enslaved by the cambium radio mites
