The sad parts is the only real arguement is which side is less crappy than
the other. They are both undeniably crappy.

Thank God most campaign promises go unfulfilled. We would have been unable
to pay the interest on the debt ages ago.

I think the "establishment" is missing why people are fed up with them, I'm
not convinced it's about left or right. If I had to single out one person
as the poster boy for why the establishment has failed us, it would be Mitch
McConnell. All 4 leaders in Congress have only been worried about their own
power and re-election, but McConnell is the worst of a bad bunch.

I don't agree with Paul Ryan's economics or some of his politics, but I like
what he has said since being elected Speaker. I would like to see if they
are just words, or if he would translate them into actions. I don't think
we will get to find out, election politics seem to have rendered him
irrelevant. And Mitch the Turtle would have to be replaced with someone
actually interested in governing. I wonder what conservative goals could
have been accomplished in the 7 years Mitch has spent trying to make Obama
fail no matter how much damage it causes. Tort reform? Modifications to
Obamacare? Fix sequestration? Tax reform? Immigration reform? Mitch
doesn't care. Mitch cares about Mitch. That's the problem with the
establishment, they spend all their effort on getting elected and staying in
power, they don't even pretend to do their job. And let me be clear, I'm
not saying Pelosi, Reid and Boehner were much better, it's just McConnell is
the most blatant hack of the bunch, every time I see him on TV I feel he is
giving me the finger.

I am probably fooling myself that Paul Ryan would be different, but I don't
think we'll find out.

“Obama moved right as much as the Republicans moved left. “

You know, the first 6 months a new president is in the chair, they learn a crap
ton of new and sensitive stuff that forces them to move away from the extreme
positions they had during the campaign. Why is Gitmo still open, why do we
have boots on the ground in (pick the location). Why would a president from
the party of doves, peace, love and flower power launch more drone strikes than
all other presidents in history? The job changes them.

Every president leaves a long list of unfulfilled campaign promises.

Any promise a presidential candidate makes during a campaign is meaningless.
It is like a 6 year old saying that they are going to be when they grow up.

Democrats and Republicans regularly gerrymander when they are in power.
Voting districts ought to be by zipcodet. If choose then the politicians
would just change your zipcodet which would be a real PITA. moveon.org had
got to go as well.
All of these things are just part of the symptom of the real root issue.

I think it is very much like the drug problem. The users are the driver for
the rest of the bad behavior. In politics, the voters are the drivers. We
the voters are to blame for rejecting people to the hill for decades on end
based on how much wasteful spending they bring back to us. I wish we had
someone else to blame but every people deserve the government they allow to
rule over them.
I don't care what party they are from, I vote for whomever is not the
incumbent, excluding the president which is protected from eternal
government office wealth building. How is it that most of these guys show
up to one of the most expensive cities on America on a decent but not
extravagant salary and leave decades later wealthy. Yet nobody ever looks
into the money trail of how that happened.

The "my wife" syndrome. She always views for the candidate she likes best
which also has the best chance to win, rather than who she likes best.
Obama moved right as much as the Republicans moved left. Everybody's idea
of compromise these days is you come to where I am and I'll make a deal.
I really wish the libertarian party could produce a real candidate. Neither
party wants smaller government and we can't afford what we have. The feds,
and for that matter, nearly every government level, screws up whatever it
touches.
STOSSEL FOR PRESIDENT!
Maybe that's too much but how much worse could anything get than what we
have now. These guys are simply dysfunctional. If Washington was
Thanksgiving nobody would drive to it to spend a day there.

  No, no, no.

He said it, it doesn't mean he actually believes it. Totally different thing
:)

It is best for the GOP if Hillary wins the democratic nomination.
Polling data and the GOP believe it is their best path to the
Presidency, as they can smear her all the way until election day.
Sanders is a different story. I have not seen any recent polls that
predict a win for any GOP candidate against Sanders. Tactically
speaking, they need to smear Sanders as much as possible now so that
they can deal with Hillary later.

  Trump isn't stupid.

Diane Fieinstein and Nancy Pelosi are both garbage and need to go.

Same for Kentucky's own Mitch The Turtle.

Yessir it is - - and what most of us forget is that we are a very diverse
country. Here in the "deep red south" we yell obscenities and any of you
"yeller dawg democrats" and can't understand how you'd ever think any of those

We loathe people like Diane Fieinstein and Nancy Pelosi.

I had some friends I met on a high school trip that were from Rhode Island

were leaning to the right and I'm more in the center than the right - - I mean
if they were offended by MY comments, geez, they should read other posts. I've
talked with many of you - I've heard the opinions of "the other side", and I
appreciate comments from both sides. There are usually two sides to every

Back to the discussion at handwe don't understand why YA'LL won't vote out

We do need compromise. We do need deal making. That is how it works. When

No, no, no.

He said it, it doesn't mean he actually believes it. Totally different thing :)

Just a prime example of paid protestors ... um ... not getting paid (quick

I think the locals are primarily just anti trump, mostly Bernie, a few
Hillary and maybe one for Cruz. The paid protesters support whichever president
is on the bills they are paid with, but predominately Bernie.

I hate that I have to vote trump, i wish there were an actual good candidate,
but Cruz is too much of a zealot to beat the left, and neither of the two on
the left will take us in any positive direction, they'll just continue focusing
on dividing the nation like the current mope.

I'm still hoping Bill Murray makes his run for real.

Maybe it would work on a phase in basis.

With the block chain technology.

We practice the full cycle rating system for the next 10 years, then switch
over.

Again, if people were rated along with the candidates, policies and reform they
voted for, to create a ‘reliability of rated success’ we could transform
politics.

If it were possible to move the vote online, which its not, and it never will
be, we would easily be able to move away from a party system, eliminate
delegations and electoral college and go fully to popular vote. But we can't
even get voting machines fraud free and have a government whom the vast
majority think its funny they can't operate a cellphone effectively and don't
understand email, an online systems vote outcome would be dictated by which 12

But also reverse the weighting so those that 'win' by choosing the eventual
winning candidates that ALSO are higher rated through their term are priority

Does that make sense?

Isn’t this just a problem of money?

When did our whole political system design itself so much around those that can
move money?

Isn’t there a way to re-invent our system such that we all go online, identify
ourselves with political ideals and resolutions we like, then get a list of
candidates that have volunteered for presidency? With weighting based on MERIT,
not MONEY or PARTY.

I’m so sick of party politics, but not to the point of voting for assholes,
extremist and incompetents.

Maybe I’ll just do a write in.

Is that still allowed?

Worthless, but alleviates my conscious by voting still, but not voting for
someone I really don’t care for, which currently are all of the “candidates”.

Not a chance in hell there's a dime coming directly from him. I think if he
were to actually find out money from his campaign was directly or indirectly
funnelled into the nonsense he would stop it and come clean on it. But he
definetely won't put a stop to those who support him funneling money into it.
This is such a dirty election, who knows where the money trail leads. Anonymous
donors to gofundme accounts are virtually untraceable. That's a company that
needs to be investigated, but by it's nature, it's isolated from wrongdoing by
it's participants.

Trump has already said the gop has broken the deal, he may run as an
independent anyway, which will decimate the republican parties poll
numbers, all they'll get are the party liners. I don't even think there is
a current political affiliation trump would fall into, trumpetarian I
guess. It's possible he could make a run still as an independent and be
successful as long as he doesn't stab a protester, which I think was his
plan in Ohio today. I just hope tommorrow doesn't turn into early Christmas
shopping for central illinois, at least there will still be workboots in
the looted stores.

2016-03-12 Thread Forrest Christian (List Account)
One of the big problems I see with voting in the US is the fact that people
feel that they have to vote republican or democrat even if their heart is
somewhere else.

I'm sort of a 'moderate libertarian'. I find a lot of people are of this
temperament - probably right up there with the number of democrats. I
believe the government should stay out of most things, but some of the
things the libertarian party thinks should be deregulated or privatized
presupposes that greedy corporations and individuals will do the right
thing. But back to the point, many people would find themselves more
aligned with a party which isn't the republicans or democrats.

Because of the system we have, there's no way for me to vote ' I really
want the libertarian, but If I can't have that, I'd settle for this other
candidate. So I have to look at the republicrat candidates and decide if I
should help weight the election towards one or another of them.

I suspect if people could vote what their conscience dictated without
feeling like their vote wasn't likely to count we'd start seeing more third
parties in office.

I don't condone this at all. I may not like Trump, but

It is surprising that once someone commits to politician they can't seem to
ever change their opinion, no matter what side they are on.
